I think the prospective Kuwait Metro project should be one of the main objectives in the upcoming strategic development plan for Kuwait mainly because in a few years the traffic congestions will reach un-bearable condition, add to this the pollution rate & noise.
The project went thru many ups & downs throughout the past years & we were not really sure about the exact implementation details, but today I brought you some real facts & insights on the project.
The Ministry of Communication is intending to establish a Transport Authority, which will be responsible for the project management. The project will use B.O.T (Build, Operate & Transfer) concept for the construction. The actual starting will begin in mid 2012, I’m not really exactly sure about the total cost.

The metro project will consist of 4 phases or in other words 4 lines (see picture above) covering Kuwait. In some locations the metro will be underground & other locations it will be on the surface.
Each line will take about 4 years to complete:
Line1: Begins in Salwa & extends to Jahra & Fahaheel.
Line2: Begins in Salwa too & Extends to National Stadium covering Mubarak Al-Kabeer hospital, hawally & Kuwait city.
Line3: Begins at Aiport & connects toFarwaniya, Kheitan & Industrial Shuwaikh.
Line4: Begins in New University & connects to 6th & 4th ring roads getting to Hawally.
Though I was let-down by the fact that the project will not be on a sharing company basis, that means we can’t get part of the shares or be part of the project (financially), too bad
Nevertheless, such infrastructural project is so vital for our future.
