Have you guys heard about this whole new supercar so-called Lykan? Supposedly it’s the first ever Arabian Super Car in the world, and it happens to be the most expensive ever. Lykan was made by Lebanon, they say it has an enhanced Porsche engine that produces 751 horsepower and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in merely 2.8 secs and reach the astonishing top speed of 395 km/hr! This even beats the latest and fastest Ferrari, LaFerrar F70, that was recently unveiled at Geneva motorshow, superb.
Though this doesn’t come cheap since Lykan costs over 3.4 Million Dollar (One million Dinar roughly) making it the most expensive supercar ever made. I’m pretty sure that many of you “speed lovers” are now dying to see this supercar in real, right? The answer is yes you can and in Kuwait!
I never knew that we have a drifting club in Kuwait, a friend of mine was talking today about a weekly drifting event on the 7th Ring Road near the Gas Station where many rookie and skilled drifters from all over Kuwait come to enjoy drifting in a large open area that was assigned specifically for this purpose. The great news is that this drifting event is legal and safe because they have got the necessary permissions from the ministry and there are firefighters and ambulance at the site plus participants must put on a safety helmet, nice.
What’s more interesting is that there are supercars worth more than KD100,000 drifting too, I was checking the photos and spotted Lamborghini’s, Porsche GT, Mercedes-Benz SLR, Porsche Turbo (see above), that must be the most expensive drifting on earth! I simply can’t imagine how they don’t feel guilty drifting in these super expensive luxury supercars but I suspect they got the money to burn and I guess the crowd love to see million dinar drifting. It’s about time to have such legal and safe drifting events organized in Kuwait by an independent and recognized club.
My friend says they started this drifting event about a month ago and that they gather every Saturday at around 1:00 pm at the same location on 7th Ring Road to enjoy drifting and that there are special platforms for spectators. Kuwait Drift Club is a subsidiary of Kuwait 1/4 Mile Club, I’m glad they finally gave drifters the attention they need, at least this will help with late night unsafe drifting that blocks Kuwait streets. I hope they get all the support and funding they need to have a dedicated club for drifting, I also wish they do the same for racers and build a racing truck in Kuwait just like all other developed countries.
Do you think girls in Kuwait can be great racers? I’ve to admit I had my doubts before but I totally changed my mind in recent years and if you still think racing and speed is all about boys then think twice and thrice because Road Rush is back in its 3rd version in full throttle to prove otherwise. I posted about Road Rush last two years, it’s basically a ladies-only annual racing competition at Bahrain International Circuit where they can enjoy safe circuit race and a drag race.
I’ll update you with all the details like date, contacts, and how to participate shortly.
A blog visitor emailed me this hot video for one of the hottest drag races that I’ve seen, imagine Bugatti Veyron, Lamborghini Aventador, Lexus LFA, and McLaren MP4-12C are on one track, who do you think will win? I hope they included Nissan GT-R and Porsche Turbo S. I recall I spotted all these supercars in Kuwait before.
Imagine that you can download 24 GB Blu-ray movie in less than a minute, how would that feel? I came across this new Internet service by QualityNet so-called VDSL 2 with speed up to 100 Mbps, I tested it on Speedtest.net and it was really fast.
They said it will be available in two weeks with a cost exceeding K.D 1700/year, I can imagine the look on your face when you saw the figure.
A friend sent me this, looks like the traffic police brought new speed camera’s SUV. My friend also said that many of the drivers did not recognize it while they were speeding on Gulf Road because they were highly camouflaged and numerous traffic tickets were issued.
I came to know that VIVA Telecom has announced today that they will launch the whole new 4th Generation (4G) of mobile technology in Kuwait by tomorrow, and by this they will be the first carrier to launch the 4G technology in Kuwait, well in the Middle East to be more precise.
The 4G LTE allows transfer rate up to 100 MB/S which is much faster than the current 3G network, I recall VIVA was testing the 4G technology about a year ago and they invited many bloggers. I can’t wait to try the 4G technology but we first need phones and devices that support it.
