I took my car to Industrial Shuweikh for maintenance and I spotted a mini version of Mais Alghanim restaurant named Mais Alghanim To Go, they offer self-service and delivery for neighboring areas. It’s located in a building called Creative Design Center nearby McDonald’s in Canada Dry street.

I was at Al Hamra Luxury Center yesterday after work and it was way past my lunchtime, I saw Brown Tomato staff were just opening the restaurant so I decided to treat myself to a feast. It was almost 5:00 PM and I was their first customer or should I say reviewer?
Brown Tomato is from the same people behind Chocolate & Macaroon, inside the ambient was pleasing with simple-yet-exquisite decorations, dimmed lighting, Italian-themed music playing in background. I liked how tables were placed, there were long tables and big tables with comfy couch-like seats. They said KD5 is the minimum charge for the big table, so I went ahead and sat down since I knew I’ll end up paying more anyway.
Sitting inside didn’t give me the-being-confined feeling since the restaurant was open everywhere. I grabbed the menu to see that they serve salads, pasta, pizza, burgers, appetizers, and dessert.
Appetizers
Rocca e funghi; Salad with wild rocca and fresh zaatar, mushroom, balsamic sauce & parmesan cheese (simple and tasted good).
S – 2012; Breaded shrimps with chilli mayo sauce (crispy and tasty).
Main Course
Double Agent; Double beef burger with mayo, garlic mayo, lettuce, bacon, caramelized onion (average taste, I expected better tasting beef).
French Fries (tasty).
Mashed potatoes (Tasted too cheesy, didn’t favor it)

If you are pizza lover and live nearby Kuwait City and too lazy to drive to Abu Al Hassany, then this news is for you. I was informed by Upper Crust Pizzeria they they opened their 2nd branch at KIPCO tower (AKA United Tower) in Sharq. I tried their pizza when they first opened in December 2011 and liked it, it’s thin and crispy. Next to them a new branch of Johnny Rockets will also open soon.

Last February I posted about Hello Kitty restaurant and cafe opening soon at Beda’a, I know many of you are patiently waiting and when I passed yesterday the labors were still working on the interior decorations and moving in the furniture, I so wanted to see how it looks on the inside. I just got some sneak peek pictures and it looks they will have totally pink theme with Hello Kitty everywhere, the wall paper looks great too, pink chairs, pink tables and even pink menu, so pink everywhere.
I heard it will probably open end of October or early November, can’t wait to check it out and see how the final look will be.
Thanks [PinkGirlQ8][Ahmad]

Last night I invited myself to a new Japanese restaurant named, Koji, that was just opened in Kuwait City. I had a little difficulty finding it but I figured the location when told me it’s in the same place of old Wasabi restaurant in Qibla. As I arrived at the entrance, I had this first impression that it’s not going to look good inside because the name was not clearly displayed but as I entered and saw the interior decorations and design I changed my mind instantly.
It was almost empty and this helped me to shoot pictures, it was just opened yesterday. I met the manager and asked some questions, they said Koji is from the same people behind Wasabi, they decided to open their own Japanese concept restaurant. My other question was regarding name “Koji”; they said it’s a Japanese name which I think translates as “tradition”, or “origin”.
Inside it was medium sized and neatly decorated, comfy seats and relaxing lighting and background Japanese music was cool. The staff was friendly and responsive, they handed me two menus; classic and iPad. The menu contained most of classic Japanese plates found in other restaurants (salads, maki, sushi, teppanyaki).
Starters
Kani Furai; Breaded crabsticks, tasted little spicy and when dipped in their sweet sauce taste is great.
Temaki: Cone shaped and stuffed with rice, tasted good (see picture below)
Main course
Tasty Crab; Rolls with crabstick , avocado, cucumber and tanuki (tasty with soy sauce).
Chicken Tori; Similar to beef teppanyaki (good but wish it was less oily).
Shrimp Sushi: Rice with shrimp (Slightly dry).
