Have you wondered why some people eat so much yet they remain slim? Why some people gain weight even when they eat little? I received this video for a Kuwaiti specialist in genetics from Kuwait University explaining the effects of genes on weight loss and diet.

I posted about this several times before but according to a new study regarding obesity in the world, Kuwait scored the 2nd place as the heaviest nation after the U.S. Apparently, the study used World Health Organization data and applied BMI (body mass index) to calculate the fatness percentage for adults.
Again I’m not surprised, Kuwait is over-loaded with restaurants that keep popping up everyday everywhere, I even read that number of restaurants in Kuwait has reached 4783 so far; there’s a restaurant for every 230 people.
On the bright side, number of health clubs is also increasing because there’s a growing awareness toward health and fitness.

A study made by Oxford Business Group revealed that about 80.4% of all Kuwaiti women are over-weight, say that again ! It means that about 8 women out of every 10 women are “FAT”. While men scored 69.5%.
Are you surprised ? Well I’m not, many girls have over-eating habit when they are under stress, most girls still can’t maintain a daily regimen for weight control especially after marriage and baby delivery.
The life style is also a major factor, most girls crave for sweets and calories stuffed foods while at the same time a bare minimum of workout is exerted.
Its also funny when I notice some girls eat 10,000 calorie sweets and drink a diet soda
What’s even worse that nowadays most women start thinking about liposuction and surgery as their first option toward losing weight, wrong ! Such surgeries have their extreme complications which I have discussed here.
On the other hand, the report also highlighted the shortage in beds at Kuwait hospitals, we fall behind the international standards, how many times did you go to hospital only to find out that there are no beds available ?
Its also sad how the report points out that Kuwait has the least health care expenditures among GCC countries
Note: Don’t take this personal girls, this discussion was made to help you realize facts and start your diet and achieve you dream body

I was not too surprised when I read a headline on Al-Anba paper today mentioning that the latest World Health Organization (WHO) statistics for obesity show that Kuwait is climbing up the chart and settling just below United States. According to the source, Kuwait was ranked as the 2nd fattest followed by Saudi Arabia with regards to tendency for obesity.

The statistics also show that Kuwaiti females (47.9%) have more obesity than males (36.4%). In fact, females are more prone to get obese (77.4%) against males (73.6%).

This is somehow expected, I mean with all those full-of-fat fast food restaurants scattered around Kuwait, numerous confectioneries, coffee shops serving 1ooo calories drinks…etc this is the kind of result I would expect, add to this of course the abuse of driving when most people would even abuse Handicap parking space just to walk less, and the failure to do any daily exercises routine.
If these figures are true, then I believe this is a major issue that we should all try our best to resolve !

I meet many people who claims to have diet plans starting tomorrow or next week, though they never start. My advice is that if you want to start then start today or you’ll never. When you decide to go on diet you should not say “Ok I want my weight to be 55 kg” & when you reach your goal you just go back to your bad habits (Fastfood, super high calories sweets, crisps & pastries), no it should be a life style change.
Next point, what’s all this hype with weight loss surgeries? Gastric bypass, stomach stapling, ring… bla bla. What people should know that such surgeries have endless list of side-effects & some doctors who perform them are quacks, sorry for that, but rarely I see doctor turn in patients who clearly do not need surgery or discuss with them the possible side effects.
The surgery is last resort for severe obesity (BMI above 40 kg/m2 or 45 kg above normal weight), also those who suffer from diabetes or life-threatening heart problems.
Basic understanding of nutritional values, your body type & nature with simple medical tests can give you a very effective weight loss plan. Celebrities are certainly part of the problem because many see them as a perfect example, when they hear this singer or that actress performed a surgery & lost 40 kg, thet will want to do it too.
Losing weight & being fit is awesome, but don’t get fooled & risk everything for something that is very achievable. Below is “Before & After” video of celebrities who lost weight.

We were invited for the soft launch of “Stretch Fitness Center” at Salmiyah opposite to Geant market near the new McDonalds. As we got inside we liked what we saw, the decorations were elegant & neat & the reception was very friendly.

I liked about this fitness center is that its run by a world wide certified trainer, Claude Groulx, a former professional IFBB bodybuilder & world champion with over 25 years of experience in health & fitness.

Stretch fitness center covers 3000 sq. meter on 2 floors & has 2 separate gyms, for males & females. I liked the gym because it really has all the facilities one would ever need to have a fit body & healthy life in such an enjoyable time.

The center has an Olympic temperature controlled swimming pool, fully equipped gym, squash court, steam room, jacuzzi, group fitness studio, luxurious SPA, healthy food cafe, prayer room & much more.

Did I say that the center has a special VIP training room called Milon circuit (the only one in middle east), it has very advanced German made training machines that are 30% more effective than traditional equipments & controlled by a smart card that will save all the settings & adjustments you make so you don’t need to bother doing that again, it also stores all your training history so the trainer can show you all your training analysis using special computer. I was astonished

The center also has spinning classes &r Kick boxing & martial arts
good for self-defense. The center will officially open on early February.
