I found about this new iPhone/iPad app that is specialized in Kuwait marine environment so-called “Kuwait Sea Base” so I installed it on my iPhone to see what it is. I liked the user-friendly interface and great features that it has, its basically a guide that tells you about the different species and life forms found in Kuwait sea like fishes names.

There’s also a nice photo gallery and information, I find this app very useful for everyone. I always wanted to learn more about life under Kuwait sea, we need to preserve our marine environment, I wish Kuwait Environment Public Authority (K-EPA) pay more attention to this area.

To get the app search App Store for “Kuwait Sea Base”

A reader emailed me this video, he says he was spearfishing at Kubbar island and a shark was about to attack him. From the short video, I don’t think the small shark was trying to attack him but maybe because there was some blood from spearfisihng the shark was attracted, sharks love blood and can sense it from 0.4KM away.

Though I liked the background music from the movie Jaws, if they make a movie “Shark Attack in Kuwait 3D” I wouldn’t mind watching it in Cinema.

Thanks [Ahmad]

I heard about this new little restaurant from our friend Blushberry that has fish shawerma so I decided to take the plunge and try it. I can imagine the “noway look” on your faces when I said “Fish”, but guess what? It wasn’t bad, actually surprisingly it tasted good.

The restaurant Fish Palace is located nearby Souk Salmiyah. They also have fish burger, fish nuggets, fish fingers, fish Kebbah, fish lazagna, even fish pasta.

So you see its all about fish, I liked their spicy fish shawarma even though I was so hesitated to try it, fish burger was good too

They said their fish comes from Kuwait and other countries. My only remark is that their shawarma price is 1 KD, that’s high and hopefully they reduce it.

Address: Salmiyah, block5, street5.

Phone: 25722720 / 5577151

The YouTube user  says that they went out with his friends for fishing nearby Marina Mall, but instead of catching fishes, they caught a cow ! Now that’s something we don’t see everyday !

I recall couple days ago, a bull was seen running on the Gulf Road and now this, is there a link here ?

Kuwait Diving Team had shared with us this amazing underwater photos from their on-going 8th scuba expedition at the red sea. Seeing these photos make me really want to take diving lessons !

Some of the places they are diving at include the Big and Little Brother islands and Daedalus coral reef.

We thanks Kuwait Diving Team for these photos and wish them a safe return. For many more photos click here

I love beach walks on Fridays, and usually I choose the Scientific center walkway, but today I went for a walk nearby T.G.I Friday’s and I was shocked to see that the beach was stuffed with soda cans, oil cans, empty containers, bottles and waste !

It really ruined the landscape and the beautiful sea view, its sad how some people are so careless and litter on beaches. Despite the many beaches cleaning campaigns, the beaches will never be clean if such people don’t learn to be civilized.

Thanks to [Shahou88] for the video.

A reader of our blog sent us a video for dead fishes on Kuwait beach nearby Marina mall. They’re saying the high temperature is causing the red tide, because the oxygen becomes less and fishes can’t survive, but why we never had it say in 60′s and 70′s ? and why its happening only in Kuwait bay?

Personally, I believe the red tide phenomenon is caused as a result of the marine pollution, which produces certain bacteria and chemicals that with high temperature consume the dissolved Oxygen (O2) and fishes need a certain amount to survive.

My friend and I were arguing whether there are Dolphins in Kuwait sea or no, I tried to convince him that real dolphins can be found in Kuwait sea, but some people are too stubborn to change their minds.

I even posted about a dolphin that was found dead on our way to Kubbar island before. Luckily, one of blog friends, shared with us a video for his sea tour at Bnaider where they witnessed dolphins swimming and playing.

[Thanks Tariq]
