I always dreamed that they bring Comics Convention (AKA Comic-Con) to Kuwait, and I got quite jealous when I knew they that they brought Comic-Con to Abu Dhabi back in 2011, there were rumors that Comic-Con is actually coming to Kuwait but rumors stayed rumors.
Short brief about Comic-Con from uncle Wikipedia;
“It’s an event showcasing comic books, science fiction/fantasy and film/television, and related popular arts, the convention now includes a larger range of pop culture elements, such as horror, animation, anime, manga, toys, collectible card games, video games, webcomics, and fantasy novel.”
Enough said, I came to know through our friend Area965 that there’re going to organize a Comic-Con-like event so-called Q8Con next summer in Kuwait. The organizers promise a fun event that attracts fans of Anime, Manga, Games and Comics. The activities include video game tournaments, cosplays, performances, artist-fan meetups and various such things and that a lot of artists, performers, producers, writers, media-personnel, artists and game designers from various parts of the world particularly the GCC. This is a first-time thing in Kuwait, hope it turns out fun.

I saw on the paper that Ahmedi will organize a festive Carnival and a musical parade to celebrate Kuwait National Day near Al Koot Mall next Thursday in addition to bicycles and running tournaments on the 9th of March. I loved how Ahmedi was decorated with colorful lights and I think the carnival will be fun to attend.
I was at Marina Crescent in the morning and saw there was a kids marathon going on so I went to check it out, I asked organizers about this event they said this is the Omniaty Kids Run and it’s a short marathon (1/2 km for ages 5-8 years & 1km for 9-12 years). I pretty much liked the idea so I decided to cover the event since they said all the registration fees (KD1) will be donated to children with terminal, and deteriorating Illnesses in collaboration with Bait Abdulla (BAACH).
I think this is the first well-organized kids marathon in Kuwait, I truly respect all those families who made sure to register their kids to participate in such a sport and health event. Charity aside, it’s important to raise our children with health awareness since and engage them in sport events since early years, it’s like an investment for their future. The kids were fun, I was enjoying an laughing at them because some of them were crying because they lost, simply adorable. I’d love to see more similar events in future and please “parents” involve your kids in such healthy activities and not just take them to fast food restaurants.
I was heading toward Kuwait City and saw they fixed billboards near traffic lights showing February National Day celebrations for each governorate of Kuwait. The one I saw was for Assimah governrate. It included festivals, musical fiestas, sports tournaments, fireworks and entertainment shows so I made you a brief list.
If you spot the activities for the other governorates please send us so we could share with you all.
Every year Kuwait celebrates National Days in February with many recreational activities, I recall Hala February Festival was first launched back in 1997 and the purpose was to refresh tourism in Kuwait plus the positive influence on Kuwait economy of course. Though some people were questioning the success of this festival but I personally don’t look at it this way, I focus on the enjoyment part. This year Hala February brings more fun and more events diversity, I’ve prepared you a list for all the activities and events for Hala February 2013 which will kick off on the 15th. Enjoy!
So tomorrow InfoConnect and InfoBiz 2013 annual expo will kick-off at Kuwait International Fair and extends for a week, I’m truly hoping the expo will bring us something fresh and new this year as I was disappointed last year because all I saw was Hawally shops, telecom and ISP’s companies with some offers. I’d love to see any new technologies, concepts phones or devices that are not yet released. Ok I’m not saying I’m expecting something like CES but at least I want to go to interesting futuristic stuff.
Anyhow I came to know that Microsoft Kuwait is participating this year, I hope they bring us any news on their upcoming X-Box console which will be announced by end of March I think.

I received an email from U.S Embassy in Kuwait to inform me that famous jazz band from New York City, The Chris Byars, is coming to Kuwait and will have a jazz night at Kuwait National Museum on Tuesday. This is cool I’m huge fan of jazz music, I remember The Chris Byars band came to Kuwait in 2011 and performed in 360 Mall [link]. Yes before I forget the admission is free so feel comfortable to bring along your friends and loved ones.
Kuwait is abundant with three things; restaurants, exhibitions, and blogs. I guess having more blogs is great because they really entertain and bring lots of news and opinions but I’m not discussing blogs here, I’m talking about expos. I got you a list of all the consumer and special exhibitions that will be organized at Kuwait International Fair for year 2013, so whether it’s food, fashion, perfumes, watches, computers, smartphones, outlet… etc. I’m sure you will find it listed. If you know about more expos that are not listed please let me know.
After my exciting historical venture to the Red Palace in Jahra back in April 2012, many of the blog visitors sent me emails and comments requesting exact road directions for locating the Red Palace but I was unable to describe the exact location because I also got lost. Great news; there will be a guided tour to the 100 years old Red Palace where visitors will be taken around the palace, buses for transportation and refreshments will also be provided for KD3 per person. Read about my visit to Red Palace [link]
Recall my post about the two Kuwaiti artists, brothers Ya’koob & Humble Abdul which are also known as Sons Of Yusuf? They are organizing a charitable event on January 11th where they will be performing live (Arabs in Paris & other songs) featuring Army Of One and Skywalker. Tickets are on sale now and must be purchased in advance in order to be on the invitation list. I certainly would love to see them performing the song Arabs in Paris live on stage.
Still unsure where to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Kuwait? I admit it’s kinda hard to find cool events for the New Year’s Eve in Kuwait, we were trying to contact every restaurant and hotel to inquire whether they have something special prepared for the New Year’s Eve. Sadly some restaurants were fully booked but there are still many places to enjoy. Of course you can still enjoy nice BBQ with family or friends, hire a Limo or Yacht, make party, or watch other countries celebrations on TV or simply enjoy a dinner at home.
If you know about any other cool events, please share them with us.
