20130110_103616 (Medium)I’m glad that I managed to keep up with my workout for several months now and drop my weight from 97KG to around 86KG and maintain the result, but of course my target is not only to lose weight but to get back in shape by losing fat and gaining muscle mass to get the toned body look. However, the biggest challenge that I’m facing now is that on some days I feel little drowsy when I arrive to the gym, also feel tired when I do intensive workout for say 50-60 minutes. I usually start with a warm up then do weight resistance exercises and finish with cardio or sometimes swimming at the pool.

IMG_20130104_172833 (Large)So I’m now considering to add supplements to my regimen, the ones that I used before are shown above but I’ve checked online (supplements in Kuwait too expensive) for bodybuilding, vitamin shoppe, and amazon websites and there are many new supplements that I know nothing about, what I’m basically looking for are the best supplements that help with raising energy level, boost natural testosterone and growth hormones, improve muscle anabolism, whey protein and multi-vitamin. I’d would be thankful if you could share your experience about supplements so we could all benefit, also if you know good shops or trusted websites that sell them for good prices.

Note: I wanted to add that ordering supplements online has also become tough in Kuwait because of customs and Ministry of Health new regulations, package has to be sent to test labs before it can be retrieved.

I went for a movie at Cinescape 360 and saw Blimpie was opened, I like their sandwiches, good choice for a light dinner. There other branch is located in Maidan Hawally near the American Intenation School.

I saw this CNN reportage on obesity in Kuwait, currently Kuwait is considered the 2nd fattest country worldwide after U.S, the report states that about 70% of Kuwaiti Men are over weight and things are even worse with Women, and that with this increasing rate in obesity Kuwait will soon be the 1st with flying colors.  Personally I’ve to keep my eye on my weight since I’m having more and more cheat days lately.

I received a new cookbook today, I wasn’t interested at first but as I started leafing through the pages I got interested. I usually try to avoid traditional Kuwaiti and Arabic meals when eating with family because they are loaded with calories, but deep inside I wished if I could join them without feeling guilty, well this book helps you prepare healthy Arabic and international dishes that are low in calories while keeping the great taste (according to them).

The book is by Mariam Al Othman, and is in both Arabic and English languages. It provides 46 healthy low calorie recipes for starters and main dishes along with the nutritional values. There are also cooking tips and servings information, paper quality is good too. I asked how much is the book? They said KD5 and is avaialble at all Diet Care boutiques, I will try some of the book’s recipes to see if they taste good and healthy and will update you.

Who can resist the traditional Kuwaiti plate Machbos? Just seeing the big Machbos platter placed on our family futoor table tempts me enough to break my strict diet rules. I always wondered if there’s a way we can reduce the calories in popular Kuwaiti meals, like maybe using steamed rice? less oil? low fat ingredients?

I saw this video for Diet Care explaining possible ways to reduce calories popular Kuwaiti plates, it’s in Arabic so if you have any questions just ask please.
