Early this morning we had a chance to try the famous buns cafe, PappaRoti, that was just opened in Kuwait.

PappaRoti is a Malaysian franchise and was opened in many countries, I tried it at Dubai mall and loved their buns big time.

I’m certain that many of you have already tried it and many were waiting for it to open.

The decorations were simple and neat, the staff were handy and responsive. Their menu contained a variety of hot and cold drinks though their core product is the bun.

We ordered the buns and the Papa Tea Milk; One of the best tea milks ever and the buns were as tasty as in Dubai.

 I chit chatted with the owners who explained that they are planning to open another 4 branches in Kuwait soon. So did we like it? Yes and if you like buns you’ll like it too.

The single bun costs 900 fils and 5 pieces for 4 KD, we wish to see more breakfast items added to their menu in future.

Today I decided to go somewhere and try something new for lunch, so I thought about trying out the newly opened “Elevation Burger” at the Avenues MAll phase II.

It was softly opened two weeks ago, and a week from now is the grand opening.

I spoke with manager, Mr. Ali Ashkanani, and asked him about the concept of the restaurant “Elevation Burger is a quick and casual restaurant offering 100% organic, grass-fed, free range beef burgers” he said.

I tried their Elevation burger, fries and elevation sauce. What I liked about it that they use un-saturated fat (no trans fat), and the beef quality, also their French fries felt like the one we fry at home.

The beef was tender and patty, loved it. The service was great and staff were friendly too.

Generally great ! Though my only remarks is that the restaurant needs a better ventilation (exhaust funs) system for the cooking smell.

Burger Hub in collaboration with AYMSTRONG had recently launched a healthy campaign for those who seek to enjoy burgers while on diet, well today I wanted to evaluate their diet plan.

I went there for lunch at 3:00 PM, and I had a little chat with the waiter about the healthy campaign & what they did to achieve that.

I ordered the Heavenly plain & the La rose burgers, yeah one is not enough but if course no French fries & a diet pepsi.

Well, let’s now see what Burger Hub did to turn a fatty meal into a more healthy one:

-The chef used less oil for the beef, making them more dry. That’s a good one.

-Using brown bun instead of white. Smart, because complex carbs are always better.

-Using lettuce wrap instead of bun, that’s also great option, though lettuce can be messy.

-Putting less sauce & toppings & cheese. Good for cutting on calories.

The above things can help cut on the calories, but I did more customizations. I asked the chef to remove the dough, put the sauce, toppings & cheese on the side. This way I can further  customize my burger for more healthiness

Verdict: The burgers were still tasty & much less fatty, the lettuce wrap was little messy though but anything that cuts on the extra calories is welcome But again, my choices were simple plain burgers & no French fries.

I’m glad that Burger Hub took this step so people can still enjoy their burgers without guilt.
