Remember B+F Burger Boutique? Yes the one at Arraya Center that was closed for renovation and redefining it’s concept for more than a year, it was re-opened today and I was asked to come over to try it out and give back my impression. Luckily it’s my cheat day (remember it’s Friday) and by the way I’m achieving a lot in the weight loss department. So I arrived there and had chance to chit chat with the owner Basil Al Salem who is also behind B+F Open Flame Kitchen and Slider Station.

My first question was “What took you so long to come back and what’s different about the new Burger Boutique?”, he explained how they faced many challenges during re-defining concept phase “We wanted to go organic, natural, healthy, and above all, encourage recycling concept and this took us time and a lot of effort and here we are back again”, he said.

The restaurant was simply yet neatly decorated with industrial finish and green color to represent nature, there were a few tables by the entrance and an outside sitting area.

I observed that concept was greatly changed, everything was made of recycled material; the menu, the tissue, the spoons and forks, even serving plates. I grabbed the medium-sized menu to see what they got; they had burgers, sliders, salads, appetizers, hot dogs, sodas. I asked if they serve lower calories burgers and came to know that they have what they call “Zap it” option on the menu where they use less oil for burgers and fries; hence less calories.

I noticed the food was served in a recycled paper boxes or carton-like recycled material, felt kinda weird at first.

Starters

Mushroom Poppers; Filled with tillamook, chedder, fire roasted  jalapeno (tasty and crispy).

Jalapeno Bottle Caps; Jalapeno coated with crispy honey mustard (recommended).

Farmer’s Salad; Lettuce, cucumber, carrot, corn, chicken (tasted ok but needed more dressing).

Classic Burger; Tillamook, tomato, white cheddar, lettuce, lettuce, onion, sweet relish, tangy mustard.

Green Chilli Burger; Pepper jack, shaved onion, jalapeno, chilli sauce (light and tasty).

Green chilli fries; Fries with chilli sauce (It was soaked, wish it was less oily).

One of my favorite burger outlets in Kuwait was B+F Burger Boutique at Arraya Center but as you are aware they have been closed for long time. Good news that while being at Al Raya yesterday I saw they have moved to another bigger location and I received news that they will re-open on March/April.

I liked their Madison burger and the classic cheese burger, can’t wait.

Update: They have re-opened with new concept, check our review [link]

Well, I tried Meat Co. and I absolutely love it and finally I got to try B+F open flame kitchen at 360 Mall. The latter was opened back in June 2010, but for some reason I never  tried it before, well I went there because a friend had recommended their Steak to me and I was craving for a tender fillet steak :)

The comparison here is mainly about the steak, because that’s what I tried in both of them. Both has nice interiors with elegant decorations and lighting, though Meat Co. is more spacious, also both are in 360 Mall.

My first impression about B+F open flame kitchen was great and the menu had lots to stuff to try, but of course am only there for a quick salad and the fillet steak. I tried their casear salad and it looked little weird but tasty.

I picked their Fillet Mignon (240 g), medium well, with more mushroom & thyme sauce. The taste was amazingly delicious, but it was fatty too. Also there was no side orders, so I had to order mashed potatoes.

In Meat Co. I tried the prime fillet steak (300 g) several times before and it was tasty too. Now with regards to taste they are equal, well maybe B+F had slightly better taste. Though Meat had more choices for steaks & little less expensive.

Finally, I’d like to add that both restaurants are great for a weekend treat. Now you tell us which one you prefer ;)
