If you thought that increasing marriage loan to 6,000 KD has completely solved the problem, I say think hard and long again. While having my morning coffee reading the paper I came across this newly published study by the Ministry of Awqaf stating that the majority of girls are now asking for 10,000 KD dowry (or should I call it marriage custom), their reasoning is that marriage preparation costs a lot, the jewelry, the wedding dress, make-up, accessories.. etc.
The study covered about 600 girls, personally some of the weird things I heard is that just make up alone would costs as high as 500 KD or even more! But again I think girls should be more considerate with their demands, after all no one wants to start his/her marriage with debts.

Couple weeks ago I talked about Ministry of Interior intention to increase the traffic fines in Kuwait and today I read on Al Anba paper that a proposal to increase the fine for breaking red-lights and over-speeding to 500 K.D and 90 days imprisonment was made and handed-over to the Minister of Interior for approval.
This further confirms that Ministry of Interior is totally aware of the numerous daily traffic violations and are trying to set rigid rules.
If you recall I conducted a quick survey to see what people think about increasing traffic fines in Kuwait; Interestingly the results were 49% (Agree) and 48% (Disagree) which gives us inconclusive result. My opinion is that increasing traffic fines is good way to penalize reckless drivers but will harm average drivers.

A reader E-mailed us this snapshot at Gulf road. I’m sure we are all used to see this scene everyday, but sometimes it just gets really irritating. Let’s admit it flirting is a worldwide phenomenon but when it blocks the street, causes traffic congestion and accidents then we have a serious issue.
Thanks [Khalid]

I read a new study for the countries with lowest gasoline prices in the world, Kuwait ranked as number 6 with price of 65 fils/liter. I thought Saudi Arabia was the cheapest, but it came as 2nd (23 fils), and in 1st place came Venezuela (14 fils per liter), “Wow” this is almost nil.
Norway was the country with most expensive price (310 fils/liter), so to fill my Jaguar XK car, it would cost me 25+ K.D !
Note: These are approximate prices for one liter of premium gasoline.
