I passed by the new Chocolate Bar branch that was opened today at Al Hamra mall for a quick lunch after work, this is their 5th branch in Kuwait and its nicely designed like the others. They also launched new chocolate plates along with the opening, there was an outside seating area in the center of the mall.

Chocolate Bar is one of the successful Kuwaiti-concept restaurants, I think they opened in Dubai? Am I right?

Would you eat cupcake for KD7,700? A friend of mine who is currently in Dubai told me that the world’s most expensive cupcake maker Bloomsbury’s has opened their store at ground floor in Dubai mall, they offer customers cupcakes that they call “The Golden Phoenix” that is served on 24 karat gold plates with price up to 100,000Dhs (about KD7,700), that’s jaw dropping!

I guess I have to spend my life saving to try one of these cupckaes.

Thanks [Dallal]

I was leafing through Al Rai paper and saw that Al Shaya has taken the exclusive franchise for famous American cupcake bakery chain Sprinkles Cupcakes and is looking to open the first branch in the Middle East in Kuwait later this year. I recall tasting it when I was in L.A , its considered one the first cupcake bakeries. Seems cupcake business is the next trend in Kuwait with Magnolia Bakery opening at Hamra Mall soon.

Their red velvet is a killer especially with the creme cheese on top, I suspect it will be opened at Avenues Phase-III on September 2012.

I passed by McDonald’s Gulf road branch for breakfast this morning and saw they have new Waffle Cone ice cream with three flavors; Chocolate, Cream and Strawberry so I ordered the three for try-out. Luckily the sun wasnt that hot by the beach so I could taste them, I liked the chocolate and strawberry and the crispy waffle.

Price is 400 fils and I read calories are between 150 to 250 per piece.

We received a bag with edible gold and silver truffles from luxurious Swiss chocolate confectioner Delafée to taste and give our impression. When I read real 24K gold and silver, I thought to myself “Isn’t that poisonous?” but turned out its eatable.

Delafée is a Swiss confectioner that makes the world’s finest, most luxurious and expensive chocolate with real 24 karat gold and pure silver, I admit their chocolate looked captivating.

The packaging was high-end and suitable for various occasions such as weddings or receptions. From the first bite, I could sense the intense dark chocolate that has the pure taste of chocolate and was less sugary, coupling it with Arabian coffee would be great.

Price; they said Gold chocolate costs KD4.500 and silver KD3.750

Every time I’m in Dubai Mall, I pay a quick visit to Magnolia Bakery because I’m big fan of their cupcakes especially their blueberry and red velvet cupcakes. Good news is that they’re opening their first branch in Kuwait at Hamra Mall. Can’t wait for the opening, will keep you updated.

I have been craving waffles for sometime now but sadly we didn’t have any specialized place for waffles in Kuwait, I remember enjoying tasty waffles in the U.S and Europe. A friend told me about this new place in Salmiyah so-called Waffle Land that serves waffles.

I tried to convince Tazmania to join me but said he’s going healthy and he missed it. The place was kinda small but fine, I talked with the manager who said they opened couple days ago, and that they’ve flown to Belgium to get the waffles recipe to open their own concept in Kuwait.

They didn’t have a menu ready so we asked them to serve us with their favorite waffles; the strawberry, the chocolate, and the Nutella. All were tasty but the Nutella exceptional.

What I liked is that their waffles weren’t too sugary, taste was balanced and the ingredients felt fresh. Their ice cream comes from Movenpick and Baskin Robins.

They said customers can customize their own waffles by choosing the toppings and fruits, they’ll also serve low calorie waffles soon. Their price is 1.5 KD for the waffle and will officially open in two days.

Address: Salmiyah, Salem Mubarak street beside Olympia Mall.
