The traditional Kuwaiti word “Harissa” had joined the world of Oxford Dictionaries. Oxford Dictionary defined Harissa as harasa to crush, pound, tenderize by beating.
For those who don’t know Harissa, it’s is traditional meal in Kuwait, a porridge-like dish made of ground wheat and tendered meat pounded together.
So who wants Harissa ?
Thanks [Yousef]

We had a really enjoyable visit to Dickson House Cultural Center at Sharg area today. Its located opposite to Sharg Market and the entry is free.
It’s my first time to be there, and I’m sure that many have not yet visit it even though its been there since Kuwait’s semi-colonial history.
Dickson House was built in 1870, and its the house of the first British political agent Colonel Dickson (1929-1936) in Kuwait, who then worked for the Kuwait Oil Company after he retired from the British government.
Colonel Dickson passed in 1959, but his wife, Dame Violet, also known as Umm Saud stayed in Kuwait in their family home on the Gulf Road until she passed away in 1991 at the age of 92. Many people in Kuwait still remember Umm Saud, as she was a fixture in Kuwait up until the invasion.
Stepping inside, took me back decades back and me feel like am living in the past with all those artifacts photos hanging on the walls, old books and of course the original decorations and interiors.
The house had ground floor with rooms containing photos of British agents, and the Amir Sheikh Ahamd Al-Jabir, also old currency notes and old swords and rifle.
Outside there was a small courtyard with classic car parked, I think it belongs to Colonel Dickson.
Upstairs was the Dicksons’ living quarters, it reflects how this elderly English couple lived among Kuwaitis back then, really interesting !
I hope they do their best to preserve such a precious historical monument. If you haven’t yet visited Dixkson House, do because you’ll enjoy it

Today I bring you a sneak peek review for the whole new Lexus CT200h at Lexus agency in Shuweikh. I think it arrived today and there are only 2 pieces available.

Lexus CT200h is a hybred and smart compact car with new technology that offers the driver to either use petrol or electric power to drive. This is a great idea if the gas is pricy (like in Europe) and to lessen CO2 emissions, hence less pollution.
So in case you run out of gas, you still can drive for about 80 KM, excellent idea ! The body also looks smart with its wide track and sleek lines.
Inside, its spacious and comfortable, with navigation, rear camera, fancy interiors, CD, MP3.
As for the engine, this is the first 4-Cylinder AWD Lexus, 1.8L, 135 HP and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 10.3 secs. I find it a great option for girls and families.
Finally, the price is 10,300 K.D for the low option and goes up to 13,400 K.D. for the full option.
For more information visit Lexus agency or check their Website

We had a visit to the “Annual Autism Charity Bazaar” held in the Kuwait Center For Autism today at 6:30 pm.

I wanted to see the facilities the new autism center has and the services they provide to help many families.
The building itself is very nicely designed both on the exterior and interior.

Also it was spacious and had a theater, hall, school, offices, small park and other facilities.
Its nice how companies and people in Kuwait have made donations to build such a modern facility for human purpose, also I came to know about a group of Kuwaiti volunteers called “Reach Autism” that have dedicated themselves to support such a cause, and we wish to thank big time !
As for the bazaar event, it was nice and well organized, there will be many events on the international Autism Day (2th of April), that will include cooking, Bikes show by Kuwait riders and others.
There were many creative stuff made by students with autism, and they were really nice. We here at BananaQ8 wish to thank everyone that had participated to make such a humanistic center a success !
