While enjoying my vacation in Dubai, I decided to have dinner at the long awaited popular American restaurant The Cheesecake Factory that was opened two days ago at Dubai Mall, we arrived there at around 8:00 pm and it was so crowded. They told us that we need to wait 40 minutes or more and gave us a buzzer, they said we can stroll across Dubai Mall until the table is available.

This is their first branch in the Middle East, and shortly they are opening in Kuwait. We were starving literally and more than 50 minutes passed yet we didn’t get a table, but guess what? It was worth the wait. Inside it was really big and nicely designed, there were many waiters serving the customers.

Just like the U.S. branch, the menu was extensive and there were about 200 items to select from such as milkshakes, appetizers, salads, pizzas, burgers, pasta, fish & seafood, steak & chops, sandwiches, eggs & omelettes, soft drinks and of course add to this their main specialty; the cheesecakes.

Starters

Grilled Chicken Tostada Salad: Crisp corn tortillas topped with grilled marinated chicken breast with fresh corn, onions, mixed greens (Tasted good and the portion was enough for 3 people).

Factory Nachos: Served with melted cheese, Jalapenos, and spicy chicken; tasted good and it was more than enough.

Main Dish

Chicken Tenders: It was crispy and tasted good too served with sweet sauce and barbecue.

Chicken Madeira: This is their most popular chicken dish and tasted great (recommended). Our drinks were passion fruits Mojito and soft drinks.

I was leafing through Al Rai paper and saw that Al Shaya has taken the exclusive franchise for famous American cupcake bakery chain Sprinkles Cupcakes and is looking to open the first branch in the Middle East in Kuwait later this year. I recall tasting it when I was in L.A , its considered one the first cupcake bakeries. Seems cupcake business is the next trend in Kuwait with Magnolia Bakery opening at Hamra Mall soon.

Their red velvet is a killer especially with the creme cheese on top, I suspect it will be opened at Avenues Phase-III on September 2012.

I brought a sneek peak photo for the new POTBELLY sandwich shop that will open soon at phase III of the Avenues Mall. POTBELLY is a famous sandwich shop from Chicago that supposedly offers low-fat sandwiches similar to Subway, it was franchised to M.H. Alshaya Co sometime back.

My friend tried in Dubai and said its tasty, so now we have Subway, Quiznos, and very soon POTBELLY.

We were invited by River Island at Avenues mall to check on their newly released Spring/Summer 2011 Women’s wear collection. River Island is one of Britain’s best known high street fashion brands and I personally find it appealing on women with reasonable prices.

The new collection had fashionable pieces including dresses, glasses, bags, shoes, purses, heels with fancy colors.

H&M Kuwait sent us an E-mail yesterday asking if we can visit their headquarter to check on their latest spring collection. Honestly, I was hesitated at first because I thought H&M had little to impress me, I can’t recall that I bought anything from H&M before.

Nevertheless, I accepted their invitation out of curiosity, I arrived at their building at 3:00 PM, they were nice & friendly :)

They showed me some of their latest men collections & I was starting to actually like it because I used to see H&M as girls only thing :)

I asked about the quality & prices & I found that both were great.

Then we headed to their Avenues store where they took me around their store to check on their new collection.

What I really loved is their low prices while offering good quality & that they use biodegradable organic cotton for their clothes, at last fashion companies are turning green.

Luxurious expensive brands are hot but ask yourself this: How many times will you wear the same T-shirt or dress ? Even when realize you have paid a lot for it.

I think H&M is perfect for everyday life where you can still look cool while your wallet remains fat :)

So now tell us honestly guys, what do you think of H&M ?

We wish to thank H&M for their nice invitation & for the great tour.
