20130110_103616 (Medium)I’m glad that I managed to keep up with my workout for several months now and drop my weight from 97KG to around 86KG and maintain the result, but of course my target is not only to lose weight but to get back in shape by losing fat and gaining muscle mass to get the toned body look. However, the biggest challenge that I’m facing now is that on some days I feel little drowsy when I arrive to the gym, also feel tired when I do intensive workout for say 50-60 minutes. I usually start with a warm up then do weight resistance exercises and finish with cardio or sometimes swimming at the pool.

IMG_20130104_172833 (Large)So I’m now considering to add supplements to my regimen, the ones that I used before are shown above but I’ve checked online (supplements in Kuwait too expensive) for bodybuilding, vitamin shoppe, and amazon websites and there are many new supplements that I know nothing about, what I’m basically looking for are the best supplements that help with raising energy level, boost natural testosterone and growth hormones, improve muscle anabolism, whey protein and multi-vitamin. I’d would be thankful if you could share your experience about supplements so we could all benefit, also if you know good shops or trusted websites that sell them for good prices.

Note: I wanted to add that ordering supplements online has also become tough in Kuwait because of customs and Ministry of Health new regulations, package has to be sent to test labs before it can be retrieved.

I dont know the right supplement for men, but I can say amazon.com is giving a good deal. I am getting my stuffs from them and some of my vitamins too. The only problem is the shipment fee. But i may help you getting them ship here for free as i am getting mine too in same way. I have close friends working in US base here in Kuwait i can ask them. Just do the research of the best supplement u may need.

    • Tazmania says:

Thanks lasie will check Amazon now, if you get answer from your friends I’ll be thankful I remember a friend of mine used to buy supplements from his friends from the U.S in Kuwait for good prices. thanks again

    • abdu says:

is there any store which sells cheap supplements …. they are overly priced here :(

      • Tazmania says:

Selling supplements for cheap prices hmmm I can’t tell you names because I’ve not compared the prices for the stores in Kuwait. What you can do is compare the prices online and the stores in Kuwait and see which one offer the best price. In Kuwait we have GNC, RESULTS, O2, Wawan Protein stores. Online I tried Amazon.com, Bodybuilding.com & Vitaminshoppe.com before but you should also calculate the shipping cost and when the supplements arrive to Kuwait they will be sent to Ministry of Health and they will give you sample number to collect them after maybe one week, it’s a headache.

        • abdu says:

how do you order from amazon… there are no shipping options to Kuwait… GNC and Wawan Protein stores. where are they located do they have online stores are they cheaper that results or health planet

    • dh says:

How do you ship stuff to kuwait … i am interested too

    • abdu says:

can you give me your contact detail i also wanna buy stuff from the base but have no contact

  2. Ziad says:

You need to increase your daily protein intake to 2 grams for every kg of body weight to maximize your body’s protein synthesis. You will also need Creatine for strength, Beta-Alanine for muscular endurance and Vitamin B6 & B12 and Zinc for energy, immune system support and increased testosterone production in order to support fat burn and increased lean body mass.

Check Wawan Protein in Salmiya behind Wataniya complex, they have a large line of body building supplements there.

    I recommend the following:

1- Muscle Pharm Assault (Pre-workout Supplement with Creatine)

2- Optimum Nutrition Hydrobuilder (Hydrolized Protein Powder)

    3- Animal Pak or Opti-men (Multi-Vitamins)

What is far more important than supplements is to have a complete diet (Protein, Complex Carbs, Unsaturated Fats) and get plenty of rest after your workout sessions.

    • Tazmania says:

Thanks Ziad very informative indeed. thanks buddy

    • darkwolf80s says:

Taz, as a trainer. If you want my personal opinion. Ziad is the best comment. Nails it down perfectly. However, if you’re like me and want something supplements that’s exactly what Ziad posted there’s always alternatives.

      Example

*Whey protein is why protein – Doesn’t matter what brand as long as it has good enough protein, vitamins/minerals that you needed. That’s only justifiable by knowing what is your current weight and how much you needed as a daily intake.

*Animal Pak – Opti-men – Those are fine and are only vitamins and minerals. They can be easily vetoed if you’re eating the right kind of food on a daily basis. That being said BCAA/ Glutamine, & BSN falls in the the exact same category. All can be achieved in the right food consumption without having to spend extra on cash.

*Creatine – This is a MUST. No questions.

**Muscle Pharm Assult – Pre-workout** or ANY BRAND, doesn’t matter. This is what you needed because you feel tired when you arrive at the gym. Find one that you think is good for you.

*(Optional)Nitric Oxide – Again ANY BRAND, they all work the same. Doesn’t matter if it’s liquid or cap. But for extra juice when you’re doing some serious drop sets or super sets and you need that extra energy. This is where this supplements will come in handy. But if you want something that’s cheap and to keep you awake the answer is couple of hard coffee shots.

My final advice would be is to change your game. You start off warming up a bit by doing cardio. Switch that warm up and do only 2 sets of pushups & pullups 10 rep rest between is 45-60 sec. You’re hart rate should be up and ready to rumble and then when you’re done throw the rest of the energy at cardio (any kind).

Also, if you’re planning on doing heavy weights, consume carbs at least 1 hour before workout. For me it’s sweet potatoes or pasta.

      • Tazmania says:

This was such one informative feedback really appreciate it bro thanks that you spent the time to explain really crucial info. I never used creatine or nitric-oxide and was always wondering how they work, I’ll now add them. I’ll follow your plan and report my progress thanks again coach.

  3. Spartan says:

u need to understand that muscles weigh more than fat..so dont feel discouraged if ur weight increases as u bulk up..u should keep an eye on ur body mass index and also at ur body fat percentage…i personally dont recommend u resort to protein shakes..u can totally eat enough protein through well engineered diet..dont forget that even if u consume 50 grams of protein by drinking protein shake ur body does NOT digest and retain the entire amount of synthesized protein..anyway..if u insist on taking protein then i recommend Dymatize Nutrition Elit Gourmet Protein..they come in different flavors and they are ALL very yummy..other brands tend to taste like a chemical deadly mix…good luck

    • Tazmania says:

You know spartan I have a feeling you have such a toned body like those spartans in 300 :) I used Dymatize protein and before I remember I used the Hydro Whey protein but it was very expensive in Kuwait maybe around KD33,, thanks bro

      • Spartan says:

hehehe i wish i was as toned as the actors in 300…ur most welcome =)

        • Spartan says:

and ya it is a little more expensive..but its yummy..and other brands that taste like crap are not that cheap either..id rather u pay more for better quality…anyway ask around u might find something that is reasonably priced and good at the same time…oh i recommend to u go Oxygen in el3deliyya, they sell protein shakes for 750 fils i think..u can choose whatever brand and flavor they have on display and u can try different ones untill u find what appeals to u

  4. Spartan says:

of course u need to take L-Glutamine and other amino acid components…amino acids work as building blocks that muscles need to grow….anything that tampers with ur testosterone level and growth hormones is simply NOT natural..u should NEVER mess around with ur body hormones…its simply not worth it..one of the dangers of doing so in inducing all kinds of cancers…dont say a lot of ppl r doing it..cuz then ill tell u more people smoke, doesnt mean smoking isnt bad….concentrate on building a well defined lean body..we r not vikings, hence it is genetically abnormal for us to walk around like the green hulk

  5. who cares says:

it is different from one person to another
    you can ask

  6. Zweiz says:

Watch “Forks Over Knives” its basically your diet and what you eat that has the affects on you. All those supplements are not good for your body. Keep things as natural as possible

    • Tazmania says:

True…that’s why I did two months workout clean no supps nothing but thesedays I slightly feel dizzy when I hit the gym sometimes so I was thinking to add something for more energy level. THANKS buddy

  7. nabil says:

it’s really a long subject to go further into so am gonna cut to the chase ,
if your diet is complete i believe that u will only need protein powder and multivitamins as supporters. other supps will not be needed. and for the pre-workout nothing will do you better than espresso , keep it classic !
but that doesn’t mean that supps are bad , no , if you don’t mind spending money i would say the important stuff in order are
    1-BCAA and Glutamine for recovery
2-Arginin and Creatine for growth and muscle building

    brands i suggest
    1- protein ( ON Gold Whey )
    2- multivitamin ( Centrum )
3- pre workout ( Bsn No Explode )
4- BCAA/Glutamine/Arginin/Creatine ( doesn’t really matter as long as the serving is 5+ grams in the serving ) i think that’s ideal

    best place to buy
    1- O2 shops
    2- Health Planet

    • Tazmania says:

Thanks big time Nabil I do agree it’s really long subject with so many numerous things to look into. I’m considering to use BCAA, Glutamine, & BSN since I never used them before, but could you please tell me what does the BSN do?

      • Nabil says:

Sure bro no prob , BSN is a barnd name that has so many good products but what i reffered to was No-explode is their pre workout ,,smilar to what the guys reffered to “muscle pharm assault” .. Assault is recieving good feedback from its users and it has good ratio of nutritional ingredients…
If u want bcaa i advice Bsn aminoX or SciVation Xtend
        Glutamine seek optimum nutrition

  8. Hamoudy says:

Check out these TABATA and HIIT workout routines to burn fat light a blow torch!! and yes they are more effective than your usual cardio workouts. take your multi vits and just eat right.

  9. smart0y says:

keep it simple, with healthy & organic food consumption.

you don’t need to pay extra $$ for commercial supplements, check this: http://greatist.com/health/healthy-smoothie-recipes/# for healthy smoothies between meals.

put in your diet: أرض الطبيعة products like: peanut butter, coconut oil, honey, oat meal, quinoa, & flaxseed. trying making your own smoothie up to your taste mix it with berries, bananas, etc.

the only product i use is protein power, get organic or natural protein from Dubai Mall (there is an organic shop in the basement level, Organic Food & Cafe) here: http://www.thedubaimall.com/en/shop/organic-foods-cafc3a9?page=1&filterTermId=175&type=1

or get it from London, Whole Food Market, here: http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com.
Suggestions: http://www.pulsin.co.uk/protein-powders/pea-protein-isolate.html Peas protein powder or check their whey protein.

I used to consume all kind of supplements for energy, post workout recovery, testosterone boost, etc… nothing made difference as much as changing my eating habits & adding healthy, organic & simple choices.

  10. G-Funk says:

None! Consuming these things will kill you in the long run! Not to mention the side effects along the way! Eat right & workout

    • Tazmania says:

I agree with you natural way is the best way but sometimes you reach a point in your exercise where you need a little push to gain better results. These are dietary supplements (protein, aminos, vitamins) and not steroids so they are much safer.

  11. j.z.j says:

Your healthy/sport related posts always end up with many comments mashalah ;p .. i’ve read them all cuz i always got confused with this subject + living with a dr that always refuse to take supplements it’s very hard (my brother)

anyway “my goal” is to stay fit and in shape with muscles but not body building
i warm up with 15 min cardio – start weight lifting and end up with abs, what do u think ? trying to have healthy food + 1 protien shake before the workout(thinking to increase it to two before and after working out)
not getting the results that i want quickley bs el 7amdela :D

I’ve noticed that no one mentioned Amino-acid in comments, aren’t they useful ? i was thinking to take them (bss metraded)
what’s good that i always keep my trainer informed with what am doing to be in the safe side

    • Tazmania says:

It’s great to have our dear visitors and readers to be involved in health and fitness discussions for everyone’s benefit :) I’m on expert in body fitness because I wanted to also learn which are the best supps put there and what are the best practices and exercises to get that lean and toned body look. Generally it’s better to have some carbs before exercise and protein right after exercise, I’m currently using ISO-100 Dymatize prtoein & Hydro whey protein. I’m trying to find the supps that were recommended for me by our visitors. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein and also muscle tissue, they can be found in foods and certain suuplements, I’m not sure what is the best time to take amino acids before or after workout but some people told me right after work is the best time but as I read from many online articles that they are safe to use, I’ve used for the first time ever last month and I’m seeing positive results so far with muscles growth…let’s wait and see :)

    • Smart0y says:

Theoratically speaking its better to warm-up with dumbells or empty bar or push-ups/pull-ups then do your weight training AFTER that you can do your choice of cardio for 15mins (20mins max).

Why? Because when u start with weight training your body will consume energy from the available sugar in your bloodstream then when you do cardio, you will end up consuming energy from fat. so it really depends on your goal do you want lean body (less fat)? Do it this way.

  12. Wael says:

Try http://www.kuwaitfit.com – probably the best prices I’ve found on Optimum products. Nothing absurdly expensive, but obviously more expensive than getting it from the States.

    Cheers

  13. adbu says:

Please guys suggest me so cheap place where i can buy some good protein

    Prices in kuwait too expensive

in USA its like 30dollars ie==9kwd

    • Tazmania says:

Yes I know prices in Kuwait too high, but like I said you can either order online from Bodybuilding.com or Amazon.com or VitaminShoppe.com or you can buy from Kuwait.
      Some shops in Kuwait are:
-Wawan Protein: behind Wataniya complex in Salmiya.
      -Health Planet
      -Results
      -GNC
      -O2

compare the price for the protein and buy from the cheaper one. Good Luck!

      • Dudmatix says:

        hi Tazmania,

Is going through the customs process worth it ?
I guess the preworkouts and other powdered supplis are double the price, if not more.
Its dirts cheap on BodyBuilding.com and the shipping is not that costly either, if one buys a 3-4 month supply.
So what is your opinion brother ? Will the customs open the packages and all ?

        • abdu says:

I too am interested to buy from body building.com
could you let me know how long it takes to reach kuwait

do i have to pay customs

how long will it take at ministry of health

how much will i have to pay there

and will i have to go and pick it up how long does the entire process take

  14. GetEm says:

Jack3d… boosts energy and small levels of creatine support muscle repair and regrowth

  15. Dottie Strebeck says:

Aerobic exercise (also known as cardio) is physical exercise of relatively low intensity that depends primarily on the aerobic energy-generating process.Aerobic exercise and fitness can be contrasted with anaerobic exercise, of which strength training and short-distance running are the most salient examples. The two types of exercise differ by the duration and intensity of muscular contractions involved, as well as by how energy is generated within the muscle.*
