I read on Daily Mail that a little British boy suffered burns to his legs after a BlackBerry Curve 9320 exploded in his bed while he was asleep, the boy’s mother said that she detached the charger from the phone and placed the phone on the bed nearby her son so that alarm wakes him up in the morning but the phone exploded and burst into flames, the company RIM has recalled the phone to see what was the root cause.
I read numerous stories about smartphones and laptops exploding, but usually it’s because a bad knock-off battery is used and not from the device itself. However, there’s a lot of people that still use BlackBerry phones in Kuwait so my advice to anyone using smartphone, do not keep the phone near you or on charger during sleep.
