Last night, we had the honor of being invited to Cocoa/Cabana to try out their menu in Abu Halifa. The concept behind the restaurant is one of a kind, and virtually never heard of before!

IMG_0177

Everything in their menu has a mix of chocolate with their special sauce- even the burgers! You’ll find things on the menu like Caesar Salad with cookies, Nutella samboosak and other strange yet yummy mixtures!

IMG_0173

The only downside, I would say, to the restaurant is that the food took way too long to arrive. It took about 2 hours for our burgers to arrive but when they finally did, it was evident what all the hype was about.

IMG_0163

Overall, it was an amazing experience with amazing people and a beautiful atmosphere. There was a live saxophone player who entertained throughout the night, good food and enough chocolate to satisfy anyone’s cravings!

There’s been so much backlash from domestic violence cases in Lebanon (mostly) but in the Middle East as a whole. Now, more than ever, we are hearing about so many murders carried out by angry, and extremely abusive, men beating their wives to death.

An organization called MARCH organizes peaceful protests and rallies in order to show the severity of the issue and ensure the government passes a law protecting women against domestic violence. There have been so many recorded cases of women being beaten to death with a kitchen appliance, being shot, or just being physically beat until they were no longer breathing.

For mother’s day, they launched a campaign with very powerful images that honestly gave me goosebumps. What if it was your mother or sister that was being beaten? It’s a very very sever form of abuse. Taking your anger out on a woman doesn’t make you a bigger man, it makes you a coward.

Women’s Day was used for the good of this campaign where thousands among thousands went down to the streets to protest against what is going on in the country. When there is so much wrong happening, it’s easy to get lost in the turmoil of the chaos in the country.

Men, please man up. Use your words, not your hands. Don’t raise your voice, raise your argument, your knowledge, your respect. It’s so sad that all of this is going on at home.

These are only some of the victims who have fallen in the arms of abusive men who have been abusive, and ultimately killed their wives.

If you follow Hashtags on Instagram, I’m sure you’ve come across the recent uproar for the “NoMakeUpSelfie”.

nomakeupselfie

This began as an effort to raise money for breast cancer research in the UK. It was a very very successful attempt at the beginning where more than a whopping 800,000 donations were made, almost 2 million pounds have been donated thus far. Amazing! All someone has to do is text BEAT to 70099, and they will have donated in 3 pounds.

Girls take a picture (or 50) of themselves with no make up on, upload it with the hashtag #NoMakeUpSelfie, and tag their girlfriends to nominate them to do the same. Of course- this soon turned into girls ultimately looking for attention and fishing for compliments.

Don’t get me wrong-I think the initial idea behind this campaign is amazing. It’s a fun way to get people, mostly women, to donate to a great cause we can all be effected by (men too). But the whole point is lost when selfies are being posted and no money is being donated.

lady-gaga-no-makeup-selfie

I’m all for natural beauty, but the entire point is being lost. No one is being helped other than the ego of the person posting the photograph. I say we go out and start out own campaign and raise money for important issues in Kuwait. Let’s all make a difference and help one another-in a way other than taking photos of yourself.

So, obviously I’m super hungry, and somehow stubbled upon this recipe that made me gain 45 kilos just looking at the photos. I am going straight to the grocery store right after work to purchase all these ingredients and will probably end up in the nearest hospital because I gave myself a heart attack.

Warning: This is not for the faint hearted.

How To Make a 15 Pound Snickers Bar

Like I said, you might become diabetic when attempting to devour this cake.

First off, you need a ton of chocolate and fatty everything on the face of the planet- or just everything in this photograph.

15_pound_snickers_01

You’ll then melt all the chocolate, butterscotch, and add a couple spoonfuls of peanut butter, depending on your preference- I’m not judging you.

15_pound_snickers_02

Should look a little like this

15_pound_snickers_03

Then proceed to cover the bottom of a very large tub? with half of the outcome of your melted deliciousnessness, as tempting as it is to stick your fingers in it, save the rest for later!

15_pound_snickers_04

Then add a couple Snickers bars to our concoction. Just around the edges- you’ll add more later.

15_pound_snickers_05

You’ll stick all Snickers to the rest of your melted yumminess with Nutella. Just because there isn’t enough chocolate in the mix.

15_pound_snickers_06

You will then melt the Kraft Caramels, or any other caramels of your choosing, Nestle Carnation Milk, and tons of butter-just because.

15_pound_snickers_08

Something delicious and magical like this should appear..

15_pound_snickers_09

Then add all the melted gooeyness into the middle of your Snickers pool and add some unsalted peanuts.

15_pound_snickers_10

Then you add even more Snickers into the pool of goodness. I know, I know. These ones are smaller, they don’t count.

15_pound_snickers_11

Then comes the nougat..which is basically consists of melted marshmallow puffies.

15_pound_snickers_12

When all melted properly, it should look a little like this

15_pound_snickers_13

I’m almost done, I promise! All you have to do now is create another small Snickers pool with the mini bites and add your freshly made nougat into the mix

15_pound_snickers_14

Perfect! All that’s left is to add the other half of the base you originally made as a top layer and pop it into the freezer for 2 hours, or so!

15_pound_snickers_15

This is what your final disaster should look like. You’re welcome, and I’m sorry if you end up in a hospital with your arteries clogged and weight 45 kilos more than when you began reading this.

Everyone’s always so concerned with all the good they can do for the world, but it always seems like no one ever does anything, right? Wrong!
The amazing team behind OXadventure does just that. Everything they do is for the sake of those less fortunate that us. They plan trips to different places like India and Africa (among others) and spend their time and effort to help people through doing good.
IMG_7029
OXadventure was initiated by Kuwaiti youth in August 2013, with the first project under their name completed in December 2013 in India. The organization focuses on globalizing the youth through volunteer work, travel, stepping out of typical comfort zones and educating the youth on the global and local issues that need attention and support.
IMG_9037
The ultimate vision of OXadventure is to influence the youth of Kuwait to begin to make positive changes in the world as well as in their own country by shaping their attitudes to stand up and be globalized citizens. OXadventure anticipates a movement amongst the Kuwaiti youth after participating in OXadventure programs, coming out of it with a newfound respect towards humanity, nature and equality. By traveling abroad and by getting out of their comfort zones, the end result will be a team of potential future leaders for Kuwait. There is intent to have an international and a local program, with collaboration amongst universities, high schools, companies and the public.
IMG_5830
Over the course of 100 days from April 6 to July 16 1994, an estimated 800,000 to 1 million Tutsis and some moderate Hutus were slaughtered in the Rwandan genocide. A recent report has estimated the number to be close to 2 million.
IMG_5803
OXadventure team will guide 10 youth volunteers , in collaborating with SURF (Survival Funds of The Rwandan Genocide) and Dr. Nick Scull (AUK professor and psychologist from FSRI) to help the survivors of the genocide by restoring homes for the victims. This would include painting, cementing, and roofing, supplying furniture or repairing old ones, and generally creating a better quality of existing life in rural Rwanda just outside of Kigali. For half of the day, participants will be restoring and interacting with the locals. During this time they can get to learn the local women’s crafts and daily lives. In the evenings they will work closely with the Rwandan students to work on their CV’s and business proposals.
IMG_4995-1
Amazing, right?
The Highlight of trip is that they will be working with academic media students in AUK to do a documentary for the trip as internship for the students. We will show the amazing effort of the Kuwaiti youth as they help those in need to live more comfortably. At least two professional Kuwaiti youth photographers are coming along on this trip to capture the experience in every step of the trip through photographs on high-resolution cameras.
IMG_6838
Once the volunteering project, documentary and photographs are done in Rwanda successfully, OXadventure will organize a highly promoted event in which we will debut the documentary and showcase a photo gallery of the trip. Professional speakers and experts will attend the event and give a presentation, discussing the genocide and sustainable development, followed by speeches from the participants who will share their experience in Rwanda.
IMG_5391
They’ve made efforts to reach out to fellow Arab countries, like Syria, in this dire time of need. Guys, what you’re doing is amazing, and I am so proud that local youth have accomplished so much on their own!
Anyone and everyone who has ever wanted to do good should sign up with OXadventure. It is 100% nonprofit organization.

For any further questions, or to ultimately sign up to go on this trip and help recreate someone’s life, you can e-mail them on info@oxadventure.com or visit  oxadventure.com/OXRwanda for more information on the trip and what exactly this adventure will consist of!

On 28 March 2014, Spanish driver Carlos Sainz Jr. will drive an Infiniti Red Bull Racing Formula One car on the streets of Kuwait, which will be the first time a Formula One car has been driven on the country’s roads.

Sainz Jr. commented: “When I was told I would be doing the show run, I was very happy. Anything you do with Red Bull is a lot of fun and I knew I would enjoy it. It will be my first time in Kuwait and I have heard it’s a great place, so I can’t wait to get there. It’s also exciting as it’s my first Formula One Show Run and while I’ve done tests and filming, it will be a great experience to be able to drive the car in front of all the fans.”

The Red Bull Junior Team driver has plenty of racing experience behind him already but this is truly exceptional. “Most of all, being a racer I am thrilled to be driving an F1 car and especially the RB7. It is a world famous race car, one of the true greats. I have never driven it before, I drove the RB9 last year and I can’t wait to have a go in the RB7, it will be something very special.”

Carlos’s challenge for 2014 is to win the Formula Renault 3.5 championship and the 19-year-old from Madrid is certainly one to watch. During a limited FR3.5 campaign in 2013, Sainz impressed the FR3.5 paddock by topping the timesheets in free practice on his debut in Monaco. He had only been in the car a few times but ran a combative race to finish sixth.

In 2014 Sainz Jr. joins the DAMS team in the FR3.5 championship. The DAMS team has pedigree in FR3.5, having won both Team and Drivers’ Championships in 2013, making a star of Drivers’ Champion Kevin Magnussen, now racing in Formula One.

Fans will see the Infiniti Red Bull Racing World Champion Car on an 800-meter long urban track stretching from Bneid El Gar signal light to the Kuwait Towers. The car, which accelerates from 0-100km/h in 2.4 seconds, can reach speeds of 250km/h and above.

In addition to the Infiniti Red Bull Racing Formula One Show Run, Kuwait will get a glimpse of Chris Pfeiffer, a four-time World Stunt Riding Champion and one of the best Stunt Riders in the world who will be pushing the limits with his new tricks. Red Bull Athlete Abdo Feghali will also entertain the spectators with his amazing drifts.

The hype for the Infiniti Red Bull Racing Formula One Show Run will begin a few days before the main event, when the team’s car will be displayed and fired up around various locations in Kuwait, as well as other activities such as the Red Bull Pitstop Game. The event sponsored by Infiniti, Pirelli, Babtain Group and Sirbb Track is held under the organization of KMRC and will take place next to Kuwait Towers on March 28 at 2pm.

All expecting mothers are terrified of knowing that they might have a baby with down syndrome. Having a baby later on in your life increases the risk of this happening, but all it is really is in an extra chromosome.

It may make their life a little harder, especially since people are so mean, but they’re still human beings, and being a mom is scary regardless of how many chromosomes your child has. Thought I’d share this video with you, make sure you keep a tissue box close!

Anyone who regularly uses YouTube is sure to know who FouseyTube is. He usually posts funny videos of pranks or what not every week. But this weeks video was very different. It really depicts just how disgusting people really are. We’re so blessed to have a roof over our heads and clothes on our backs, yet it’s so easy for us to turn the other cheek when we see someone who needs us. Watch this video, and I honestly hope it opens up people’s eyes and gives everyone a new perspective to life.

Oh, and I am hopelessly in love with Yousef (FouseyTube).
