Sometime back I posted about the local operators (Zain, VIVA, Wataniya Telecom) to launch 4G LTE network in Kuwait soon, however I wasn’t sure who will be the first to actually launch it. A reader to our blog has spotted an ad for Zain (Shuweikh branch) stating that they are launching the 4G LTE for the first time in Kuwait. What I did is call the call center to confirm it, they said it’s only available for the data lines and not mobile phones, but they said the speed is 42 Mbps and from my previous understanding that 4G LTE download speed is 100 Mbps? So I’m little confused here.
The guy at the call center said that I’ve visit their branch to get further details, my guess that Zain will be the first to launch the 4G LTE for mobile phones in Kuwait. As for pricing, they said the 42 Mbps costs 24 KD/Month with 35GB download capacity and KD33 for the 80GB cap.

VIVA has 4g? what’s the speed?
4G LTE is available in Saudi Arabia by Zain.. & I can say it’s fast..it’s 20 MB/S on average.
Isn’t 4G LTE supposed to be faster than 50 MB/S since theoretically it’s 100 MB/S ?
I don’t get it , how they are saying it’s the first time in Kuwait , When Viva has launched that service a year back O_o

I was also wondering about the same, they said I gotta visit their branches to get more details.
First they must improve their 3g, atleast in my area and around me.
I used to get painfully low speed 9 kbps even though I bought the 7 mbps net ! And the webpages never used to load.
Many times it made me cry !
I have friends who are also complaining about similar issue in some locations in Kuwait, but this also happens with other operators as well, the network shall be enhanced.

what’s the 4G LTE frequency band for ZAIN?
I think frequencies are;
1 (2100 MHz)
3 (1800 MHz)
5 (850 MHz)
