I got iPhone 4 and my friend got Samsung Galaxy SIII and both of our screens got broken badly, so we went to Hawally to change them and to my surprise my screen costs KD15 while his screen costs KD85, that’s a big difference. Question is; why Samsung Galaxy S III screen costs much higher than iPhone 4S?
Basically iPhone screen comes in two parts; the top glass and the underneath touch panel and they are separated (see picture below), this is why iPhone screen keeps working even after it gets broken whereas Samsung Galaxy S III screen comes as single plastic piece and rarely works when broken badly. I think this is the same reason why Samsung Galaxy screen is more expensive. I hope Samsung will resolve this issue in their upcoming Samsung Note 2 phone.
Finally my iPhone screen was replaced with a new one, though I want to clarify that screens in Hawally are not original.
Thanks [Said]

Don’t really know what have caused this incident but I hope both you and your friend are good
So the IPhone has a great screen tricky design this is a thumb up for the Iphone
Can you please mention the workshop name that fixed your phones ?
Thanks
First we went to “WE FIX” workshop near Eleztrozan in Al Rai but it was closed, then we went to shops in Hawally in Bin Khaldoun street, we asked several shops about the prices and how long they need to fix it. Finally we went to a shop called iShop near Subway.
Most welcome bro,
So iphone wins
I think Samsung Galazx SIII screen more expensive because it’s LED and iPhone is LCD
Mehhh, it would have been waay better if you just gave me the s3 instead of all of that! lol but thanks for the “mini battle”
ur welcome The Funky Gamer, so what’s the game ?
On the contrary. The main reason that the iPhone screen is not as expensive as SGS3 or any other Android phone out there is because there’s not much demand for it. The big Heba in Kuwait that has a huge sales are all the iDevices. Therefore if you were to go to any store in Hawally they’re able to supply the demand a lot of the iDevices screens and are able to get the cheap quality kind that mimics the original touch screen.
Whereas Samsung or any other Android phones or Blackberries or Nokias you would find that fixing the devices be it may the screen, motherboard, etc are expensive because Hawally stores don’t buy the cheap quality spare parts for these phones but purchase the original parts either they get it from Dubai or Babtain. And when they buy the parts they only purchase limited quantities. Also you have to keep in mind that Android phone design and hardware constantly change but not as much as the iPhone. The iPhone does have a yearly phase change however, it’s price value doesn’t fall as low as other phones and that it’s previous generation are still being sold as a used phone to people who can’t afford the latest generation of iPhones like the upcoming iPhone 5 but instead they’ll purchase an iPhone 3GS or iPhone4 or 4S and spare parts will still be available for these customer.
I agree with you on the demand vs. supply theory in explaining the high price tag for the samsung galaxy siii, but the number of android users particularly samsung siii is increasing quickly these days in Kuwait, yet paying 85kd for changing the screen if broken is really expensive. you should have seen the look on my friend’s face when they told him 85 and told me 15 kd
Another issue I observed is that samsung siii screen comes as one single plastic piece whereas in iPhone it’s glass + touch panel underneath; i think this is why iPhone screen has a better chance to survive and work if broken.
can you give me the phone number or address
please
how much kuwaiti dinars will it take to replace the broken screen of ipad 2?
Well not sure why the prices of Samsung Galaxy S3 is too high, and as i see on ebay i found that only the upper glass is available for replacing the broken one for a around US $20, but need expertize in replacing this, in India (during my last visit i checked) the price of S3 Screen replacement is 7400 INR which is around 37KD so almost half of current prices for the same in Kuwait which is 65KD, i didnt had enough time to get my S3′s screen replaced there, but thinking to get the replacement screen from India and get it replaced here, and to inform you all the screen is badly broken but phone works fine without any issues with touch or anything.
