I downloaded and installed the new Apple software iOS 6 for iPhone and iPad, at first I thought it would take no more than say half an hour for the installation to complete but I ended up sleeping and leaving the download to continue throughout the night. I awoke in the early A.M with the image above, I tried to play around with iOS 6 before heading to work. Apple says there are over 200 new features so I didn’t have time to explore them all but I tried to focus on the main ones.

I made a demonstration video (Arabic language) exploring some of the main features, I’m sorry for our English-only visitors because I thought YouTube is already loaded with English iOS 6 reviews, just search iOS 6. In brief, the main features are;

Facebook Integration; Apple has created a Facebook app that can help users integrate their iPhones with Facebook, just like they did with Twitter.

New Maps: Since Apple has ditched Google, they have introduced their own maps, they are similar to Google Navigation Maps, they provide turn-by-turn road directions, and real-time traffic information, also there are 3D maps, but I’m not yet sure if maps supports Kuwait.

Passbook: Remember my post about Near Field Communcation (NFC), Apple has created something similar to that technology which can be used by shoppers to store credit cards information, air tickets, movie tickets…etc.

Photo Sharing: Photos on the phone can now be easily shared on Twitter, Email, Facebook, or Instagram.

VIP Email App: They created a dedicated Email app.

Safari improvements: The web browser Safari has been improved, it can now saves web pages (not just links), also users can have a full screen.

Camera improvements: The camera can now take panoramic photos up to 240 degrees, nice but this is only for iPhone 4S and iPhone 5.

Other improvements: In addititon to the features I mentioned above there are other cool tiny improvements.

Frankly speaking, I expected iOS 6 to look utterly different but it kinda had the same feeling of iOS 5, have you installed it yet? What do you think?
