I read on Al Qabas paper today that Kuwait is about to ban fast food restaurants from serving soft-drinks to kids, they say the ban will start in a few days. Their reasoning is that studies found that soft drinks can be very detrimental to health of young individuals. I also should control my soft-drinks consumption, especially diet Cola and Pepsi.

This could be usful but I think it’s impractical, what do you think?

Sometimes I feel ashamed about my own country. *SIGH* I wonder what scientist monkey they hired to come up with such a brilliant idea. If they ban coke for kids they think that switching to juices is a lot healthy. Nope its not. As a matter of fact take the KDD Gaiva fruit juice or better yet Chocolate milk. The box alone has about 25g if not more sugar let alone fat in terms milk. And 1 box is not enough for kids these days because they all order and used to the Super XL soft drinks. Taking that info I can safely say that each kid would drink about 2-3 boxes of kdd milk or juices. Which is exactly the same if not more sugar content than coke.

lol if the government is not enough welling to ban its officers from smoking inside the national airport of kuwait which gives a bad reputation for the country and shows every visitor that this country has no rules!

So do u think government will be able to to ban few drinks?
    I dont think so

Parents will just order it and give it to them, the restaurant therefore isn’t giving it to the kids, the parents are………LOL

In other news, Kuwait also recently learned that water is a liquid.

  6. This is the parents responsibity and not the governments. My parents only allowed soft drinks for a special occasion.

I agree. These are products they will sell – u cant stop it. The parents should worry about this.
its like the internet is available for EVERYTHING but its the parents job to limit it to the kids.

I am against soft drinks for kids. But its parents responsibility to feed their kids properly not the Government

Exactly, it’s a stupid ‘rule’ or did you say an actual ‘law’?
Parents will just order for their kids… I don’t give my kids soda/coke/ etc I’m not a fan of tooth decay, hard enough getting natural fluoride into our kids here. Tap water isn’t ‘drinkable’. It’s hard finding water that doesn’t have a ridiculous amount of salt in it too and like someone else said, the KDD little milks are the worst! Lots of sugar in them! The fat isn’t so bad- kids actually need a certain amount of fat.
My kids drink water from morning to night. I just got them used to it. They never had sugary drinks and nor will they ever… Until they are old enough to know what is best for them.
It is a parent’s responsibility. I do agree the government need to do something. I’ve seen some kids here l sent to school with three bags of potato chips and a tin of Pepsi. That ain’t a healthy lunch and is part of the reason why so many ‘children’ are obese/overweight.

For more than a year now, when I take my kids to a fast food restaurant (once every other week at least), I get them juice instead of soda. I realise that they both have sugar in insane amounts, but at least with the juice, you don’t get the carbonated water like you do in soda. In the end, its all up to the parents if they want their kids exposed to soda or not.
