Flu season is here, somehow I always got away without actually getting flu or it’s symptoms, thanks to vitamins and healthy diet, but this time guess I wasn’t lucky enough since one of my co-workers who happen to share the same office with me was sneezing all day and I tried everything I could to convince him to take a sick leave but yet to no avail. Now back to flu, I’m now experiencing all the symptoms except fever (thankfully), so a friend suggested that I take a flu shot that can keep the flu away throughout the year, it’s an annual vaccination given to protect against the highly variable influenza virus.
I liked the idea, not having to suffer from annoying flu is cool but I’m always hesitated when it comes to treatments, I heard Dr. Ahmad Al Khateeb clinic give it for probably KD5 or something. So anyone tried it before? More importantly, is it safe?

yes it is safe…i take mine every seasonal change because im very sensitive to the flu. I take mine at al-hadi hospital and helped me.
Salamat Bushhab,
its safe, but if the influenza strain changes (which it does pretty rapidly) you wont be immune and u may get the flu
Its provided for the public 3adi bel marakiz el9e7ia eli tabe3 laha. No need to pay for it
So our little flu virus is smarter than we originally though hmm..
I took one years ago. I think it makes you sick right immediately after, but then you stay healthy after that.
I took mine at the mostawsef, they had it there
Salamat inshalla.

Hi,
You don’t really have to take it, especially that you are already experiencing the symptoms. It acts to protect you against getting the flue and useless after having it. And as my friend mentioned above there are many strains around and even those do change all the time. It is recommended though for healthcare workers because of daily exposure to the flu and also for ill people coz it might cause them to get a severe attack. Regardless of your decision, you can get it for free at elmarakiz el9e7eiah or the public health centers for free. And you can take that chance to check with the public health doctor weather it is really indicated in your case or not.
Thanks doc. for the info helped me made a decision. Appreciate it,
Hi,
The season to get vaccinated is till november. I got myself done from appolo hospital. For first time u get injected twice and if u wish to continue it then its one injection every year. It doesnt stop u from getting flu, it just reduces the severity.
It useful …
Tc
Thanks for your help.
You guys do realize that the seasonal flu shots is widely available at your local clinic right? Just sayin.
Really, I asked some friends and they said it’s available at the private clinic so I assumed public polyclinics don’t have them. Thank for clearing this out buddy, will confirm and let you know.
No problem. You have to actually tell them to right them off for you or whatever it is you’re looking for. Normally when you go to a clinic they would do the usual check up and give you a bag of medicine with panadol as a treat. But let’s say you wanted some thing specific they would give it to your or in some cases would fill out a transfer clinic request form for you for dermatology, bones, MRI, CAT scan, etc. The ONLY downside that I don’t like about transfer is that some are not opened during normal working days and have specific opening days. The other downside to it is some request a long waiting line. That can be a BIG problem if your condition is serious or that it is already in 1st stage and don’t want the illness to go 2nd phase. Which brings me to another controversial point where I hear a lot of people say that those who are on waiting tend to be skipped off and let the other person go because he knows someone in the Ministry of Health.
I took his shot once.. it was UNBELIEVABLE. Before going in I looked like I was dying. Less than 30 minutes later I was on top of the world. Is it safe though? Honestly not sure. He discards of the injection discreetly – take it back with him on house calls, because supposedly he doesn’t want anyone finding out what it is. I didn’t feel any negative effects though.
