One of the things that really annoys me during Kuwait National Day celebrations is the improper use of foam, they don’t just get your car dirty but also harmful to health and the environment.

Fortunately, I read on KUNA website that Kuwait Public Authority will continue the ban on foam usage and those who are caught selling or using it will pay 50 KD as a fine.

banning foam is the best National Day-related law to exist. I remember when I was about 12 years old and participated for the first time in my life in the meseera on Gulf Road (foam was allowed back then). I ended up with an idiot holding a foam can right in front of my face and spraying directly into my eyes, ran -blinded and eyes on fire- to the nearest place and soaked my eyes with water. They stayed soar for several days afterwards. Never went to a meseera again.

off salamat salamat I almost got soar eyes just imagining what you went thru, yes it could harm health and env., and some were using other hazard foam chemicals!!!

This is my first National Day in Q8. Can someone tell me what to expect? Are there any organised events? I heard there will be fireworks and would like to watch them but don’t know when or where to go. Thanks.

Dear New2Q8, we would like to welcome you to your second home Kuwait. We will list down the recreational activities that you (and your family or friends) can enjoy on Kuwait National Day but I’d suggest you avoid the Gulf Road as it gets so congested and messy too unless you enjoy it :)

Thanks Tazmania! I’d be interested in anything that’s semi-organised. It will be hard for me to avoid Gulf Road / Belajat Street because I stay in an apartment near there.

Dear New2Q8, I would be happy to inform you what to expect in libration day of Kuwait in case you r a new resident in Kuwait.
    1. some young men put urain in water guns and spray other people.
    2. last year some guys throw eggs on my face and ran away with their car.
    3. be ware to walk on the streets because car accidents in Kuwait is one of Kuwait cultures and especially in Liberation day!
    3. do not go out of your home if u want to be safe because many younf reckless drivers like to make rapid drifts in the streets and put other people lives in danger and they think that this move might make them heros.
    4. even if you r thinking about walking away from cars and moto-cyclers .. they will violate the rules and come through walking paths. I always see them between hardrock and scintific center. they drive between the walkers.
If you want me to be honest; don’t go anywhere in libration day because I believe here in Kuwait people do not understand the meaning of celebration and happiness! STAY HOME BETTER. JUST LIKE ME

Thanks for the advice, Samoul – what you said doesn’t surprise me but it is disappointing. It only takes a few selfish and thoughtless people to ruin things for everyone else. My experience in Kuwait so far has led me to believe that this is becoming a cultural pastime!

Maybe I will just stay inside and watch from the window!

    • New2Q8 says:

I can now see what you mean clearly, Samoul! Last night on Belajat Street was insanity. From my window I watched a whole gang of young boys spraying cars and people with super-soakers for around an hour, a car explode in a ball of fire and more people than I could count holding up traffic to get out of their cars and dance in the road. It seems more like an excuse for 4 days of menace-making than a celebration of pride and unity.

I really missed the 90′s National Days . It was the real deal back then unlike these days ..
I wish for the new generations to feel the real love of there country before yelling
    or singing about it

  7. Staying at home is the BEST thing to do at these times & if you really want to go out & have fun, just make sure you’re protected…BUY A WEAPON JUST IN CASE! Trust me, you’ll need it & you’ll thank me later! xD!
