Women shouldn’t play football in Kuwait, I just saw on the news that Kuwait Women’s Football Team has lost 33/0 (yes you read it 100% correctly) against Jordan in the on-going Arabian football tournament qualifications. “Ouch” I mean thirty three goals in one football match is impossible! That’s like a goal every 2 minutes or less, seriously I face-palmed when I heard the result. This is not the first gigantic loss because last season they lost 17/0 against Palestine, I’m totally supportive to have National Women’s Football Team but now I think either we get them proper training or let’s just not play official matches.

Were disgusting are they even girls !!!
I think they ruin our country repetition

  2. Dee says:

hahaha girls plz just fashion no football :D

  3. Saif AlSuwaidi says:

Are you saying that if someone fails, they should quit ?
As opposed to learning from their mistakes and trying harder?

I say Go Kuwait ladies team!!! Next time you’ll get it.

    • El Toro says:

No I’m not saying they should abandon football, I was trying to say they should get properly trained (which is obviously lacking) before they embark on official matches.

  4. Buzfairy says:

You’re being sexist. They have to lose in order to learn the game, and then they can win. You can’t compare our local team with that of Palestine and Jordan. Hate those countries as much as you want, but you can’t deny the fact that they respect their women more. That’s why their teams are better prepared and know how to play good ball. It’s because their teams are well trained, and have an abundance of training opportunities to learn the game and win it.

These girls need support and encouragement, you shouldn’t have belittled them like this. I’ve always thought of you as one of the sweetest bloggers, who is always nice and polite. This post here comes as a complete shock to me. What you said here today was not funny at all. I never thought of you as sexist.

If you want to make fun of anyone in sports, go ahead and bash all our male teams in all sports. Just pick any sport, any sport at all, and you’ll find out that our men teams are the worst in that sport. And they’re the ones who ruin our reputation and shame Kuwait.

At least the girls aren’t prepared at all, plus the fact that they’re not allowed to play continuously or all year round. What’s your excuse for our men teams? They train all year round, locally and abroad, and have strong financial support and budgets. Why don’t we see them leading the scores in tournaments and championships?

Go make fun of them. They’re the ones who shame us. Kuwait won the Asian Cup, qualified for the World cup, dominated Gulf Cup, and eared record medals in para-olympics. That was 30 years ago. What have men done since then? What have they accomplished?

It’s the mens teams whom are ruining Kuwait’s reputation. Go shame them if you dare.

First accept my apology if this has offended you (or shocked you) in anyway, but I also got shocked when I heard the result. I’m not being sexist at all, on the contrary I posted so many things that solely support women and their cause and I’m sure you are totally aware of this, but this time I was trying to say that if we are totally unprepared and not ready to compete (which obviously is the case here) then we shouldn’t play international games, we clearly need to focus on getting the girls team proper training (I don’t know if they have assigned any international trainers for the same), what I notice is that the women football team is not getting any support in Kuwait, neither financial nor spiritual which is what we should focus on right now. As for making fun, I swear if the men team received a big loss I would have posted the same!
      Yala 3ad la tesheleen 3leena :)

Like I said I was shocked. You’re one of the sweetest bloggers out there, and I knew something wasn’t right with the post.

I didn’t get your point of let them prepare well first and then participate, I just got the impression you were making fun of these poor girls. And honestly, they already have a super hard job to begin with. Hayef and tabtaba2i are on their case all the time. Those poor girls need our support and encouragement, they’ve got to know there are people covering their backs and supporting them.

And yeah, I totally agree they should get proper training and budgets.

Another suggestion for Kuwait would be to start drafting private school girls. These girls do very well in regional competitions across the GCC and sham area. Maybe they could pick a team from those girls, then we won’t end up with embarrassing 17 or 30 to nill scores. That would be a great start.

Thanks for your super polite reply. Rock on El Toro.

I think Kuwaiti girls need training just like any other team. They are being neglected for being girls and that Kuwaiti women can’t achieve what other teams can do. I think we need women empowerment in Kuwait.

  6. Blush says:

They need way better training and a really good coach who can train them to be their best, otherwise who can loose so badly?
Please watch this movie: Chak De!India.
Its completely based on girls team for hockey and a true inspiration for those who loose hope and quit. JUST NEVER QUIT!

    • Anoynomous says:

Shut the hell up man!! stop promoting your sucking hindi movies here!! that movie isn’t even reality!!! Get the hell out of here!!

  7. q8othug says:

so because they failed miserably they should not play at all ?

or is it because they represented the country nationally you feel humiliated ?

if i apply this stupid logic then half of the Kuwaitis should be banned from doing anything. because they put our name to shame (politicians – government – bloggers – religious people)

in my opinion, these games actually help these girls realize the level of training and skill they need to have in order to win. otherwise even an ‘international’ coach would not be able to prepare them for anything.

Guys chill out this has nothing to do with sexism whatsoever, I said the following literally:

“I was totally supportive to have National Women’s Football Team but now I think either we get them proper training or let’s just not play official matches.”

This clearly states that I was and I’m still supporting women sports be it football, swimming, basketball, tennis, horse riding, volleyball, car racing, weight lifting…etc but my point was solely that they should get ready through proper training if they are to play any official matches because it’s hard to take such gigantic losses that means we have an underlying issue that need to be solved. Again I’m reiterating dear fellas that I was and I’m still supportive for women, simply search “women” on this blog and you’ll find tons of posts dedicated for women and their cause. If our national men football team received such a loss I’d have also posted about the same, sometimes we need to strike hard for concerned people to take serious actions. Again I’m apologizing if this offended anyone, I admit the title might have misled you into thinking that I’m sexist.

  8. Chuknum says:

I have to say Im very disappointed with this post. I check your blog from time to time and I like your work but I honestly believe that this is extremely sexist. “This is why girls must not play football” that title alone is extremely offensive. There are many women’s football teams around the world that are very successful and to base your opinion of all women on one team is well, childish.

I honestly think that they are doing a great job for a team that doesn’t receive any support and the fact that they keep playing even though they lose just shows that they have heart.

Long story short, I just hope that people stop thinking this way because its this kind of thinking thats holding us back.

  9. Nasser says:

Guys, I think you all are blowing this out of proportion. I don’t think El Toro meant to sound sexist or meant to offend anyone. I think what he means is that if the team is not well prepared, then they should be more prepared and they need to have better training and more time for them to develop as a team before going out to play in international tournaments. There is nothing wrong with skipping on some tournaments in order to practice more and gain more experience. Let them play a few friendly games first, so whatever mistakes they do may make, they can learn from their mistakes and be much better at what they are doing. I’m all for women playing supports, and doing everything that men should do. I’m all for equality, and even in the Quran men and women were both each mentioned 24 times, men were not mentioned more. But I am definitely against putting teams who aren’t ready into international tournaments. I’m not just talking aout the womens football team, but every team. Every team needs to practice practice practice, and they need to have friendly games before the official games take place. Any team who doesn’t feel they are perfectly ready to play competitively, should not play until they feel they are. The womens football team shouldn’t just gain the support just because they are women. You think that will help them do their best? The womens team needs to be supported in every way, they need to know that they have to do their best and they have to put their all in order to do very well and win games. Why do neighbouring countries have better teams then we do? Are they better than us when it comes to facilities and training? Of course they’re not. So why do they do well? Because the people their don’t just “ejamlonhum”. If you’re not up to the task and you cant do your best, then go home. I’m sure there are other woman who are much better than the women in this team, and they would love to get a chance to show how good they are. I think El Toros post was not meant to be sexist, and it should be seen as an eye opener and that much more work needs to be put into the womens football team, and also other teams. Also, to Buzfairy, you can’t say pick any mens sports and they’re the worst. There are many sports where men have done so well and achieved so much, but they don’t get the publicity they need. We only hear about the football in Kuwait, but there are tons of sports that BOTH men and women play in, and both have won a lot of tournaments and gold medals, both in the gulf and Asia region.

    • El Toro says:

Exactly my thoughts! You simply read between the lines and you were able to transform my thoughts into written words, I may have partially failed to deliver the clear idea that I’m not being sexist here but was miserably trying to point readers attention to a critical issue that needs to be addressed. Thanks a million Nasser!

Beoble should just chillax over some non alcoholic beer. Remember for the ladies the only victory they are going to ever cherish is when they drummed the Kuwait National Assembly to a 1-0 victory allowing them to participate in contact sport even if it’s only other women they are involved with. Nice!

well, i’m Jordanian and i hate football, and i don’t watch it, but yet i don’t feel this sport is suitable for females, call me mot5alef but i believe this game should be played by men only, just like fixing cars, taxi drivers, truck drivers all these should be for men only…

and Finally, please ladies, you don’t want to ask to be treated equally, these dirty men’s things are not worth fighting for :D

Why is it that the girls who are not into being a barbie in kuwait have to look like a guy? Can they look like a normal (not dressed up drag kuwait – since that’s how most made up kuwaiti girls look) and play soccer?

and i disagree with you… they should keep on playing regardless, and yes they should get proper training

    REMOVE THIS PICTURE

This image is of US, the Kuwaiti Women’s National Football Team . What you are talking about in the post regards the UNDER 17s, which is a group of girls gathered from schools.

THE ONLY TWO GAMES that the Kuwaiti Women’s National Football team has ever played were the following:

Qatar 2-0 Kuwait on May 26 of this year,

    and Kuwait 1-1 Maldives yesterday.

The classic 17-0 game was played by a bunch of university students before the creation of the official team and none of these players or the ones from the 33-0 are in this picture. I find it disgusting that you would pick any random picture from google before verifying it. It comes off as immature and fictive. I am highly offended by your post.
