Myself and a friend decided to try the most expensive steak, the Wagyu, which I think is only available in Kuwait at Meat Co. I read on Wikipedia that Wagyu meat is known worldwide for its marbling characteristics, increased eating quality through a naturally enhanced flavor, tenderness and juiciness, and high price.
We checked the menu and found the Wagyu steak available, the 250 grams fillet costs KD32, that’s almost equivalent to 16 Shake Shack burgers. The server said customers rarely order Wagyu for its high price, I chose my steak to be medium well for more juiciness.
Finally the Wagyu’s served, after the first bite I can say it was the most tender steak I’ve ever had, it was very juicy. We enjoyed every bite but sadly it didn’t last long since it was only 250 grams, and a few minutes later came the pay time.
So do I recommend it? Well if you have a very fat wallet then go for it otherwise normal steak will do just fine.

chinna mal open flame a’3la :P
bs 250 grams for 32 KD! hmm don’t think so
bs maybe I’ll check it
2 rules I have for myself when it comes to restaurants: 1- Never EVER wait in line just to eat at a certain restaurant, there are a million others in Kuwait. and 2- Never pay more than 8KD max. for a dish. You’re brave for doing this :P
I can imagine how happy the waitress was when you ordered, because at the Meat Co. the waiters get commission. That’s why they always suggest the most expensive items on the menu if you ask for their recommendation.
great rules
even though with the crazily increasing prices I suspect that now many dishes exceed KD8 !
I raised the standard to 8kd only because of steaks. If it wasn’t a steak and it cost more than 6kd then forget it :P
Someone was trying to lose weight I read :P
haha fridays are my cheat days don’t worry I’m losing weight
That was only 250 grams fillet steak plus no sweets
Sure I’ll do it but I’m waiting my next salary
hehe 5alas 3azeema 3aleena.
so do you think that the taste deserve the price .. is it gazelle meat ??
Depends what you’re looking for in your steak, if you favor tenderness and juiciness and got the money to burn then go fo it
ليش ليش ليش :P
فصلت ويكند
1kd wila 32kd..it all goes the same way..down the toilet.
you should have saved your $.
bil 3afya either way.
in case you are interested, it costs 55$ in the U.S. for a 250gram or 9z waguy NY steak
Seriously! that’s over 17 KD difference damn it.
with 32 kd i can buy 20 elevation burgers
I don’t mean to sound pompous but just yesterday I had a wagyu (300 grams) at MJ’s Steakhouse for approx 45 Dinar.
I used to love Meat & Co. until I realized their meats (especially wagyu) are mediocre.
The marbling in their meats was not the same as in say MJ’s Steakhouse or Torro Torro or Manhattan Grill (Grand Hyatt).
Also, what comes into consideration is cut (fillet, sirloin, ribeye etc etc), source of wagyu (japanese or non-japanese) and lastly and in my opinion , most importantly, chef skill.
The last variable is the weakest link.
if its worth it ill eat it!
Best Steak I’ve ever had! too bad it’s a small portion !
I think the W fillet at Hotel M is even more for room service. I haven’t tried it but I saw it on the menu.
For Taz: :* :* :*
Taz’s
XOXO expat
Prime cuts sells it raw so you cando it yourself since you complain about chefs’ skills.
Lets see howmuch better you can do looool.
you’re comparing Wagyu steaks to burgers? /facepalm
it’s like saying why eat a burger when u can just eat carrots?
or why eat burgers when you can save and just eat the bun?
Wagyu is about $0.50 the gram in restaurants, and $0.30 in retail. So 250g for KD32 sounds right.
