I took my family to Mall of Emirates and it was dinner time already so we went to the food court and saw IHOP which is known as The International House of Pancakes in the U.S. was just opened. They are famous for their breakfast but they told us that they serve dinner and lunch too, so I invited the family to try it out and see if it’s up to the caliber.

Good news though is that I had a little chit chat with their manager who happened to be at the restaurant and had chance to ask him if they are opening in Kuwait; he said M.H. AlShaya Co. has signed a franchise with IHOP and they are planning to open in Kuwait within next couple years, finally a decent place for breakfast.

We picked their Sirloin steak dinner which is grilled, tender sirloin tips with onions and mushrooms and comes with mashed potatoes (or corn) and broccoli as side orders. I must say the steak tips tasted great and their mashed potatoes was one of the best I tasted, even broccoli was well boiled.

As for dessert; we tried their Cinn-A-Stack (fluffy buttermilk pancakes layered with cinnamon roll filling) and it tasted sinfully delicious especially when coupled with coffee. My check alone came Dhs137 (KD10.5), I’m not yet sure where they will be opening in Kuwait but it’s worth the wait.

As an American, IHOP is considered a run-of-the-mill breakfast spot. With that said, I am looking forward to it opening in Kuwait; however, places such as The Early Bird is an excellent option for breakfast and I doubt IHOP will exceed their quality.

  3. This is where we American Uni students would go after a session at local bars and clubs. I’ve never eaten at one any other time. It’s just another American chain that is considered a little better than fast food.

iHOP is considered one of the trashiest places to eat in America.

They bring the brands here (the gulf), do some sparkling advertising and we assume it’s good.

    It’s actually worse than McDonald’s.

Is it that bad? my experience was positive why do u think it’s trash?

I do not know where you are getting your information from. I am an American living in Kuwait and IHOP is no where near trashy. If you have not eaten at this restaurant you should not be speaking this way. I bet any kind of money that this place is better than any breakfast spot you can think of. IHOP ROCKS!!!!

California Pizza Kitchen is open at Dubai Mall, which is a good first step I guess. Maybe it will open soon in Kuwait.
