I’m still enjoying my cheat Fridays and they are working, I’m losing weight (Many are now asking about my secret) and still not starving myself. Yesterday I was informed by HanHum restaurant that they opened at Hamra Mall so today I invited myself for lunch.
I arrived at around 1:30 PM, I’m an early lunch kind of person, and it was quiet with slow relaxing background music. If you’re wondering about HanHum; its a traditional Kuwaiti-concept restaurant owned by two Kuwaiti ladies and serves classic Kuwaiti food such as Machboos (I think Saudi’s call it Kabsa) which is rice served hot in a traditional way coupled with chicken or lamp and daqqūs (tomato sauce) , they also serve Motabag (rice with fish), Biryani… etc.
General ambient was relaxing, there were nice seating area with tables placed by the windows so its nice to enjoy a meal with Kuwait city view. I ordered Kubba (stuffed with rice beef mix) for starters, Biryani as main dish, Gers Ogaily (قرص عقيلي) for sweets, and Liban for drink. The order took about 15 minutes to prepare, they told me to come to pick it because there are no waiters to serve customers (Self-serve) and when I asked why they said the mall’s management doesn’t allow it.
I sat by the window and started to dig in; the Kubba was very loose (tasted average), as for Biryani; it tasted delicious and was hot and felt fresh, it came with tomato sauce (daqus), Maabooch (pepper sauce), and pickles and all were tasty.
Gers Ogaily was cut like in shape of toast and tasted sweet but I wish it was served the classic Kuwaiti way. My invoice came as KD6.600 , bottom-line I liked HanHum but I wish they improve prices for some of the main dishes, otherwise it’s all good.

dude the atmosphere and decoration doesn’t reflect the Kuwaiti theme. why they didn’t consider the Arabic atmosphere?
il not go thru such places (with due my respect) to maintain the original Kuwaiti image in my mind.
