Even with all sort of franchise and Kuwaiti-concept restaurants and cuisines popping everyday in Kuwait, I still enjoy eating shawerma every now and then. Let’s admit it, it’s tasty, it’s satisfying, and can save you money when compared say to high-end restaurants. I tried to sum up the best Shawerma places that I tried in Kuwait with regards to taste, quality… etc. though I have to say that price of shawerma has increased a lot in recent years.
al Farooj: It’s a popular in U.A.E, and they opened their first branch in Kuwait in Salmiyah opposite to GÉANT. They serve beef, chicken, and Mexican shawarma, and they are all tasty, but remark is about the price (750 fils), that’s high wish it was cheaper.

Moqarmesha: It’s ran by Kuwaiti chef Ahmad Al Bader and located in Sha’ab seaside and Mahboula. They serve beef and chicken shawarma for 650 fils, and the taste is great and Lebanese bread is crispy and thin, the shawarma is small so you may need to eat two or three.

Abo Khodour: It’s from Lebanon and I still remember when it was first opened in Kuwait in Hawally, they later opened in Salmiya and Mangaf. Their shawarma is big with good price. I like their bee shawarma.

Kurdo: They was a big buzz about their shawarma when they first opened, it does taste delicious especially the chicken. Though sometimes their shawarma is too oily and it’s relatively pricey (650 fils).

Naif Chicken: A very classic but still offers good chicken shawarma for a good price (250 fils).

Shawarmaji: It’s located in the Food Circle in Mishref area, I like that they have several types of bread and can customize your shawarma as per your request. I favored their beef shawarma (shawarma costs 750 fils).

The Best For Me Is From Mansoorin Turkey Restaurant In Fahaheel. Guess U Should Give It A Try.

Best shawarmas in Kuwait are definitely NOT found in the trendy Kuwaiti-owned shawarma joints! Personally speaking, I prefer the taste of a simple shawarma with parsley and tahina, which WON’T cost you more than 250 Fils, over the 650 Fils/1 K.D. Shawarmas that don’t even taste like shawarma any more because of the mixed flavor. Thus, I prefer to eat from those shawarma places at Bneid Al-Gar & from Kuwaitana. The most important part of the shawarma is the simple and homey taste rather than the ones that have a non-Arabic flavor and cost you twice as much just because it’s owned by a Kuwaiti. Moral of the story is, shawarmas should taste like shawarma, not a buritto!
I totally agree price of shawerma has increased a lot in recent years, I still remember price was 100-200 fils before and now 650 fils+ , and yes they added so many new things to shawarma ,spice, seasoning.. you name it.

Forgot to add that I tried Shawarma Al-Shuwaikh once and was not impressed with it. believe me guys, not a hater, just a personal taste. More like a new-age shawarma! I admit, it’s crowded, but just like all the new food spots in the country, i. e., Pinkberry, Shake Shack, Cheesecake Factory, & probably every restaurant in Phase 3.

Try Fairouz Express shawarma. It’s great quality ingredients, tasty, and nicely sized. One is more than enough for ladies, but men might need two. But I highly doubt anyone needs to eat three of them, because they really are sized nicely.

Incredulously, Dean & Deluca does a decent job with dajjaj shewarma though it is not good value for money. Mais Alghanim’s used to be right up there till they decided shawerma didn’t interest them any longer. Old timers such as Al Wazzan shawarmerie have moved on much to the detriment of gourmands like us. Wonder if Deek Al Roumi still does a half decent shwarma, if they are still around, that is.
I see Deek Al Roumi still there in Hawally, may give them a try to see if they still serve good Shawerma.

i like Sajco they cater heard they are opening near royal hayat, but their shawarma chicken is light oo tasty oo beef well its beef they all taste the same madry mu armisha oo i even tried fouchoon yes fouchoon have shawarma cater lool madry shako all taste almost the same when it comes to beef… but chicken big difference

Also try any shawarma place that you find on the streets. As long as the people are Arab and it costs less than 0.5Kd it should be good.
