I went over to Samsung dealer in Kuwait and found that the world’s thinnest laptop, Samsung Series 9, has just arrived to their showroom for KD480, I was waiting for this laptop for sometime now. Literally I could carry it with one hand since it only weighs about 1.3 KGs, the dimensions are 14.0″ x 9.3″ and thickness is 12.9 mm (that’s so slim).

It’s not just slim but also fast (booting takes 9.8 seconds only) because it uses Intel i7 1.9/2.4 Ghz processor, and has 4GB Ram fixed. The hard drive capacity is 256 GB SSD (Solid State Drive) which is faster and quieter than the traditional HDD (Hard Disk Drives). The screen size is 13.3 inch and can produce 1600 x 900 resolution, the keyboard backlight also looked cool and there are fast USB 3.0 ports. The downsides that it doesn’t inlcude Blu-Ray drive and I wish if they had the 8GB ram version, I’m considering to get one to use it for travelling and my office works.
So now MacBook Air or Samsung Series 9?

Definitely MacBook Air. You can never go wrong with Apple.
I would say wait for Windows 8 to come out.. Laptops should be sent out with it in the coming months. i lost hope on Macs, so i’d recommend Windows PC’s especially with all the different Manufacturers and options. These specs are improving over time as different manufacturers are all working on Ultra Books (thin devices). Here’s one from Dell, http://goo.gl/Gf4Xs
You should also check out that they have USB 3.0 and that you have enough spaces between ports + the right number of ports. Battery life is another thing to consider, Macs do tend to have better battery life. But I would definately wait for windows 8 its just around the corner!
Totally agree! Be patient. Remember the old saying “Patients is a virtue.” Wait for MS to release MS Surface with Win 8. Laptops as we know it will still be available but the new future out look for laptops are going make them dead slowly and will be replaced with tablets. I can only imagine that in the near future, each one of us can have our very own Pip-Boy 3000 like device!!
Man I was so going for this laptop, how it looked and how slim & light it was were very tempting but yes you make a perfect sense regarding Windows 8 & MS Surface, though I still find tablets to be “primeval” when it comes to “high specs” but I suppose this will change very soon.
Solid advice bro thanks for that I guess I’ll wait for the new Windows 8 laptops since they are around the corner, though I’m suffering big time with my super slow laptop.
If I were you and I had a laptop that is super slow and planning on getting a new one, I’m better off in having that old clunky laptop running the latest Ubuntu 12.04.1 Linux and just turn that laptop into a home media server for the living room. So, in case if the family wants to watch movies online or on your main home shared network, they can browse to your TV Shows/Movie directory with ease.
And also the laptop can serve as an emergency workstation if someone needs to use an office suite.
You can grab it from here. http://www.ubuntu.com/
Great advice bro, I guess it’s being ultra slow because last time I did defragment was maybe two years ago, also I have used up to 90% of the 250 GB HDD so there’s much less space for Windows Virtual memory, don’t forget that I didn’t empty the temporary files, cookies, recycle bin bla bla bla which I think now consuming so many GB’s from the hard drive.
Goodness I have one blog folder with a size of 120 GB full of videos and images! I tried the Linux Ubunty before and god it’s super light and fast compared to Windows though what stopped me from using it is that many of the popular programs were not compatible with it but for server purposes it’s just perfect. I’m having this crazy thought that I wanna build a monster computer say with 32 GB ram, 2 TB SSD, latest Quad Core processor, two of lastest NVideo graphics card…etc etc
I guess it would cost over KD1000
I would like to a computer with that kind of specs for Christmas. May I have it gift wrapped pretty please?

due to the short contest period and the face that i tried it in the showroom i didn’t have enough time to attach some photos or going in details…but what i wrote is fair enough i think
i highly recommend samsung galaxy specs amazing easy go
These are best laptops, but I think price is going to be one of the factors deciding its sells in the Indian market.
