I just grabbed my original copy of Windows 8 for KD19.900 which I think is high because you can download it directly from Microsoft for $39.9 (KD11.5) , the full version was officially released last night. I must say the installation went smoothly and took about 15-20 minutes max (thanks to my new Samsung Series 9 ultrabook). I had Wndows 7 already installed so all I did was upgrading.
The only issue I faced during the setup is that I had to uninstall some of the apps because they are not compatible with Windows 8. Currently I’m posting this with Windows 8 and it’s fast (unlike Windows Vista that was a total failure). I just have to get used to the total new Windows look, it uses the Metro design which is best for touch devices but not so great when using traditional keyboard and mouse, fortunately the option to switch to the classic desktop look is still there. So the million Dinar question, should you upgrade to Windows 8 now? Well I gotta say that I need sometime before I can answer that, but if you like to try new things and doesn’t mind taking the plunge then go ahead.

May I know which apps are not compatible??? pls…
Nothing major buddy, just a few apps that were installed by Samsung on my new laptop, also the Microsoft Office 2010 starter is not compatible so I had to update when I completed the Windows 8 installation.
Currently all the drivers for sound, video, bluetooth, usb, are woking properly. Will let you know if I get any compatibility issues later.
It is complicated as hell,I think the made the GUI too advanced to follow for basic user.
Hmmm so far I’m still experiencing with it, users still have the option to use Windows 8 in the classic desktop and start menu.
Do you happen to know how much is the Ultimate version?
Not sure B but I guess around 20 something, the pro version is KD20
use start8 to gain back startmenu and boot straight to desktop mode. runs like butter.
Wow loved that thanks Bob you’re a life saver!
Buddy there is no ultimate version there is just windows 8 ,,,, windows 8 pro nd windows 8 enterprise
hahah my bad, thanks for clearing this out buddy
I thought the Full retail version is not out yet, only the upgrade version.
They said both versions are available, full and the upgrade. However the one I’m now using is the upgrade one.
Can i use that installer for full installation (not upgrade from previous os)? i have a HP touch laptop (tx2150) and it will be best for me to buy a genuine os.
Congrats on the new laptop, definitely go for a genuine OS though I’m not exactly sure if the installer includes complete Windows 8, but worst case scenario you could separately get the full Windows 8 CD and install it on your clean harddrive.

When a new version of Windows is released, there are usually some bugs and other issues that need to be ironed out. Microsoft has put Vista through extensive testing, but it is hard for them to test it for every possible situation because there are so many different computer setups and configurations.”
