I was checking my email Hotmail (yes I still use it after 15 years) and I received announcement from Microsoft that Hotmail has been ditched and replaced with new Outlook email. I checked it and noticed that it has sharp new look and it can be integrated with your Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google and SkyDrive accounts.
The new Outlook email design is based on Windows 8. Since it was just launched then there are big chances that you can get your desired username for your email account, I think “Tazmania@outlook.com” would look cool. Sign in Outlook email here

Yes lots of hotmail users switched to Gmail, I recall Gmail was the first to offer 1 GB space and like you said it’s fast.
I really prefer Gmail since it’s easy to use and also its faster to sign in and check your inbox!

I’ve got my hotmail a/c since the 90s and still use it. But other e-mail services are great too, except Yahoo. That company needs to up its game or it will go kaa-put. But who cares about the e-mail I’m more interested in when the reviews for Microsoft Surface will come out!!! That device is hot and MS really raised the bar for all tablet competitors.

According to the Keynote, there will be 2 Microsoft Surface tablet. Microsoft Surface and Surface pro. Release date for the MS Surface will be on the same date that Windows 8 gets released which is on Oct 26. Three months down the line the Surface pro will be released.
However, MS has not given any info regarding battery life or price of both tablets. Which to me is a core info but maybe they’re doing it as a means of marketing the product and building the hype for it which is totally understandable.

Is that the same as Outlook Express? I thought that email was server based and Hotmail is web based?
No it’s not the same as outlook express, only the name. Microsoft replaced Hotmail.com with the new Outlook.com web based email, it has a total new look and many new features.
