I got my hands on the new Samsung Series 9 laptop which is the world’s thinnest and lightest laptop, I needed a new laptop since mine is 4 years old and it’s really heavy and slow. Samsung Series 9 was on my mind for quite sometime, so I went ahead to Al Andalus Samsung dealer last night and got the 15″ model for KD499 plus one year international warranty. As I opened the box and started comparing it with my old laptop, I felt the difference, the dimensions are 35.5 x 23.5 x 1.4 cm and it weighs merely 1.6 KG, that’s so light.
The specs are hot, 15″ LED screen, Intel Core i7 processor, 8 GB DDR3 RAM (upgradable to 16GB), 1900 X 1600 display resolution, 256 SSD storage, HDMI output, USB 3.0, and SD card slot. As I switched on the ultrabook, first thing I observed is that it’s so quiet, no fan noise what so ever (unlike my older laptops) and Windows booting was so fast, 6 seconds maximum and it was ready to go.
The touchpad measures 11 x 7.3 cm and mouse cursor moved smoothly, the keyboard buttons were placed in a way that makes typing comfortable, also there was backlighting for easy typing in dark places. Another cool thing is the bright display that has deep colors, I enjoyed watching movies because they looked near perfect with the true black color and contrast.
The programs ran fast and smoothly, even when I turned off my bedroom A/C heating was minimal, I recall my hp laptop felt like a nuclear reactor when it gets hot or when I run heavy applications. So far, I’m very satisfied with Samsung Series 9 and I’ happy that I can take it with me anywhere, but I want to test it with Windows 8.
The only shortcomings so far is that there is no DVD/Blu-ray drive but this can be easily solved with an external DVD player, the price KD500 is also high when compared to other laptops. Also the battery is built-in (not removable) but this is not issue since it lasts for 5-7 hours with me. There is smaller 13.3″ model for KD450

يبارك بعمرك بوهادي,, بصراحة انا بعد كنت متردد اني لشتري هالجهاز وكان في بالي من فترة بس لمن شفته اكثر وشفت شلون خفيف وضعيف ومواصفاته حلوة توكلت على لله وخذيته لاني محتاج جهاز جذي والحمدالله الحين وايد مستانس عليه وسريع ماشاءالله وماله حس كلش. فعلا سعره مرتفع مقارنة بالاجهزة الثانيه وكان فيه موديل شاشته 13 بوصة بس الفرق 20 دينار فا خذيت هذا. انا ناطر بس ينزل وندوز 8 عشان اجربه عليه

Yebarek b3omrek Nabil, graphics card is intel HD 4000, it can run games well with medium settings but this laptop isn’t for hardcore gamers. Gamers can go for ASUS or Alienware with latest GeForce or ATI graphics cards.
Those Koreians just never stop copying Apple!!
You should have gotten the MacBook Pro with Retina Display 15″
I wanted something with extreme mobility, thin & very light though MacBook Pro is also good option.

The MacBook Air is 13-inch, this one is 15-inch but the thickness is almost same, maybe MacBook Air 13″ is slightly thinner though.

what about dedicated graphics card?i couldnt understand from the video since its in arabic.
The graphics card is intel HD 4000, you can play games and run 3d graphics but not with full resolution and settings. Generally this laptop is not designed for hard gamers, but it’s perfect for office work, movies, internet…etc what I’m loving about it is the mobility and super fast booting time.
