I overheard that famous cupcake bakery chain from Beverly Hills Sprinkles Cupcakes is opening very soon at The Avenues so I did my digging and investigation to find out about the exact opening date. Fortunately, a secret source from AlShaya has told me that they are currently making food tasting and that they are most probably opening next Monday, 11th February (Soft opening) and official opening will be on the 12th. This is the first Sprinkles Cupcakes branch outside the U.S.
It’s located right next to Shack Shake at Grand Avenue District.

It’s been quite sometime since I did any food reviews because I’m cutting on my calories just like Tazmania did but heck food is too tempting since Kuwait is abundant with restaurants everywhere. I was at Bida’a the other day and spotted this newly opened Lavida Cafe opposie to Wasabi, it looked kinda cute with the violet lights so I got little curious to see what they serve. The staff said they opened a few days ago and that this cafe is a franchise from Jeddah, I was also wondering about the name Lavida so I grabbed my phone and searched Google, turned out la Vida is Spanish term meaning life.
Inside it was small with a few tables scattered around and decorations were simple with wall mounted TV. They say they mainly serve breakfast but they also serve lunch and dinner, some of the stuff I saw included pasta, salads, sandwiches, mini burgers, pancakes, waffles…etc. My starters consisted of the chicken ceasar salad (tasted good), Mozzarella sticks (tasty with the dipping cheese sauce), as for main dish I picked their Chicken Platter which is a grilled chicken fillet served with chicken mushroom sauce and vegetables (light but vegetables were little salty). For dessert, I had their pancakes which are filled with pancake syrup and chocolate sauce and strawberries (tasty).
The service level was good but staff were slightly unfamiliar with the menu but I suppose this will improve with more experience. I was generally satisfied with Lavida Cafe but my remark is that their prices are on the high side since my order total was KD13.350 including a diet soda, that’s relatively high and hopefully prices will be improved.
Note: I’ve only experienced what I talked about above so I can’t judge the other things.

I spotted 2nd branch for the luxury cakes and pastries cafe from love city Paris, Ladurée, opening at The Prestige District. I became macarons addict for sometime even though they’re relatively expensive.

Chocolate has always been like a drug to me in the winter, I crave it enormously! Luckily Kuwait has several great chocolate-specialized restaurants and yesterday I was exclusively invited for the opening of The Chocolate Cafe which is the latest addition to the chocolate places in Kuwait. The Chocolate Cafe is opened at The Food Circle in Mishref, I arrived at around 9:00 pm and I made sure to be there on empty stomach because I knew there will be high calories involved.
The owners greeted me warmly and started explaining the concept, they said they wish to offer customers such an unforgettable chocolate experience by combining the Belgium, French, and American chocolate cuisines and by using the highest quality of Swiss chocolate. I looked at the temporary menu and saw they serve Crepes, Macaroons, cakes and cupcakes, hot desserts, fondue, brownies, dips, pudding in addition to hot and cold drinks, smoothies, shakes, and coffee.
Also I saw they serve sizzlers and iron grilled chocolate which are served for first time in Kuwait. Personally I ordered the French toast (tasty and light especially with sauce), hot chocolate fudge cake (filled with fudge and coupled with ice cream) and of course the crepes (crispy and tasty with Nuttela). The decorations were simple and neat, there were tables indoor and outdoor based on your preference.
I liked how they let customers see how they prepare the crepes and sizzlers so customers can ask for any additions. The prices were in the KD0.500 fils to KD3.000 ,however I didn’t taste the other items so I can only judge what I tried.
Address: Mishref area, The Food Circle beside Yarmouk Sporting Club.

It seems Kuwait has left very positive impression on pro football player Cristiano Ronaldo, apparently he’s now following a Kuwaiti girl on twitter and is giving her two tickets for Real Madrid vs. Real Sociedad match on January 6th.
