image (3)I have never been a huge meat lover but Turkish Grill really hits all the right spots when it comes to grilled kebabs. The restaurant offers authentic Turkish Kebabs, hence the name – Turkish grill. The meat is so juicy and grilled perfectly which makes you always want to have that one last bite. Besides the meat, the salads are so fresh as if they are home-made. The fries are always crispy and never soggy which makes them taste just perfect.  There are 8 branches all over Kuwait and now the latest one has opened in Mansouriya behind the Mansouriya Co-op. I recommend for anyone who is a meat lover to go try it and I’m sure you won’t regret.

kfcold11I always wondered what is the oldest fast food restaurant in Kuwait and when was it opened? My wild guess was that it’s probably Wimpy, KFC or Hungry Bunny. This was until I saw this picture for the first ever Kentucky Fried Chicken outlet to open in Kuwait back in 1973 (that’s 40 years ago), I never knew fast food was that old in Kuwait! They say the first two outlets were located in Salmiya and Dahiya Abdullah Al Salem and owned by Americana group.

Personally Kentucky Fried Chicken (which was re-named later to KFC only) was the first fast food restaurant that I ever ate at in Kuwait back in early 80s and it was so tasty back then but the tastiness has gone over the years, well maybe it’s just me. Somehow having a fast meal felt like something special (sort of a VIP thing) back then. The fast food trend has continued to grow in Kuwait with the opening of Wimpy and Hungry Bunny in 80s then came along McDonald’s (1994) and Burger King (1997) if I remember correctly? I recall McDee’s first outlet was the one opposite to Sheikh Sa’ad Al Salem Al Sabah palace on the waterfront. Wendy’s and Arby’s in Salmiya were also among my favorite-list in early 90s, sadly they were both closed. Nowadays Kuwait is stuffed with fast food restaurants that keep popping up in every other corner. So what was your favorite fast food restaurant?

cacaochoclateThe cafe from Paris, Fauchon, has opened their branch at The Prestige District at the Avenues Phase III yesterday, I’m a big fan of their sweets and biscuits. This one is bigger than the one at 360 Mall, it’s located almost opposite to Burberry Boutique. Speaking of French cafe’s, I also spotted Laduree opening a 2nd brancc at the 1st floor sometime soon.

DSC02439Organica Cafe moved from Salmiya a while ago, I found out they were re-opening in Jabriya last night so I though I would go by to have a peek.

I like the new location although finding parking may be one of those great turn offs that we all encounter here . I tried a few things off the menu, not especially chuffed about a few things but the Lasagna tasted good and I was famished.

The new location is in Jabriya, behind Royal Hayat hospital.

They had live music which got a bit loud for me even though the singer’s tried their voices at some of my favorite songs.

What do you guys think of live music at restaurants, ya3ni what would you tolerate?

katsuya11Katsuya by Starck will open their first branch in Kuwait at the Avenues – 2nd Phase. It’s an American franchise restaurant serving Japanese cuisine. Have any of you tasted their food? Is it any good?

cacaochoclateOne of my chocolate restaurants in Kuwait, Life With Cacao, has opened their new branch at the Grand Avenue in Avenues Phase III just next to COS store. They serve a wide variety of fine chocolate and deserts plus food dishes, this branch is bigger than the one in 360 Mall with outdoor and indoor seating areas.

fight112My little theory is still proving itself to be true, there’s at least one burger joint opening or closing in Kuwait every a few weeks or so, but at all times I don’t mind having more new tasty burger outlets in Kuwait. The latest burger restaurant in Kuwait is Big Smoke Burger which is Canadian franchise from Toronto, it’s opening at the new restaurant court which is located right next to The Village restaurant court in Abu Al Hassaniya. A friend of mine says their burgers taste good but I have to taste them myself to judge on that.

I overheard that the new restaurant court in Abu Al Hassniya will also include IHOP restaurant, Starbucks, Gym, Gardenia Spa & Salon for women among others.

Thanks [AlMubarkia]

wpid-IMG-20130313-WA0064-1Our friend AlMubarkia spotted Chocolate Bar opening in Jabriya area just beside Champions Health Club in a fresh under-construction location. It looks like that they will construct a restaurant court in that location because Johnny Rockets and Nino will also open in the same location. Hail to State of Jabriya!
