A friend of mine sent me a BlackBerry broadcast claiming that new micro speed cameras are being installed in Kuwait, which are connected to satellite and send direct data to Kuwait traffic department.

Personally, I don’t think  this is a speed camera, it doesn’t look like one one way or another but I think this is a security camera or surveillance cameras used probably by traffic department to monitor  traffic congestion.

I came to know that the Kuwaiti film “Tora Bora” starring Sa’ad Al-Farraj and Khaled Amin and directed by Walid Al-Awadhi is participating at Cannes Film Festival 2011. The film revolves about a heart breaking story of a father and his wife looking for their son in the mountains of Afghanistan.

I remember I saw the trailer for this film back in 2009. I’m a big fan for Sa’ad Al-Farraj, and consider him as one of shinning stars in Kuwaiti 7th art. I believe this is a big step forward for Kuwaiti cinema, especially that many world famous actors attend this important event. I can’t wait to see “Tora Bora”, it looks so promising !

The good news is that Cinescape had reached an agreement with the director Walid Al-Awadhi to get the copy rights for Kuwait and Middle East.

In case you haven’t yet noticed, today is Friday the 13th. There are many who fear this day in Western culture, and we have seen many horror movies, books, games, and stories about this day. I remember when I visited the U.S. there were buildings without the floor 13 (as in 11,12,14).

So what’s all about it ? Friday the 13th occurs when the thirteenth day of a month falls on a Friday, which superstition holds to be a day of bad luck. This day occurs at least once, but at most three times a year.
