Looks like the Avenues management has signed a contract with a security company to provide highly trained bouncers to handle the numerous fights happening at the mall. Our friend AlMubarkia has spotted three big muscular and tall bouncers strolling around the mall that look fully trained and equipped to handle any sort of fights, they also carry batons in case they need to use them. I recall seeing security guards in Dubai Mall that even got hand cuffs.
Bad news, I saw this TV interview with Sheikh Talal Al Fahad stating that Kuwait National Football Team may actually withdraw from Gulf Cup 21 before the next game against Iraq next Wednesday. Sheikh Talal was referring to some issue with Kuwait Football Association and that the parliament needs to issue a decree to resolve it otherwise FIFA will not allow Kuwait to participate in upcoming official matches, anyone got any clue what the problem is?
A friend of mine sent me photos for a fire at Souk Mubarkiya, he says there was a huge cloud of smoke that can be seen kilometers away. Fire on the first day of 2013, now this is one bad omen, I was wishing the fire did not damage Souk Mubarkiya but I saw handful of other pictures and it seems some shops were badly damaged. I just hope no one got hurt and shops got insurance.
I read about this recent report unveiled by Ministry of Education in Kuwait stating that over 6,500 degrees in engineering are fake or in other words “purchased” from abroad! I studied engineering and I can tell you that there’s an ultimate disaster coming, this means there are thousands of fake engineers in Kuwait working in sensitive and critical jobs yet they have zero background in engineering, scary. I’m so concerned that there are also fake degrees in medicine and pharmacy or even worse, fake Phd’s and professors.
A friend of mine who was at Salhiya last night sent me photos for police forces that he says have suddenly showed up from nowhere with many tow trucks and started giving tickets and towing all wrongly parked cars including the expensive ones that worth KD50,000+ , he says Salhiya was very crowded with many people abusing no parking spots because they were rest assured that police never come to Salhiya, guess they didn’t see this coming at all.
I received this video interview with Ministry of Interior PR Mr. Adel Al Hashash explaining how the crime occurred and how they caught the killer. The police says the killer is 22 years old (stateless citizen), the cause was over a parking space and they are now after the accomplices. The police is now suggesting that malls should install electronic gates to scan for any sharp metals or white weapons.
The video is in Arabic so if you have any questions please feel free to ask me.
I received gruesome photos and video for knife fight or should I call it massacre at the Avenues last night, I was hesitant to share them because they were just so gruesome but many were sending me emails asking me to post about it so people can learn and be vigilant.
Apparently, there was repeated stabbing involved and some say the fight started over a girl but most sources say about parking spot yet nothing confirmed, don’t know what to say really but since when such violent fights started happening in Kuwait!
Note: We are really sorry if we bothered anyone by sharing the video.
Update: The killer was busted, the police says he’s 22 year old (stateless citizen), the cause was over a parking space and they say he got the knife that he used from a market inside the Avenues, most probably Carrefour, and currently they are after the accomplices. See Ministry of Interior PR official statement [link]
Great news, I read on the paper that Kuwait and other GCC countries are now negotiating with the U.K government for Visa-free entry to the U.K or by obtaining express visa upon the arrival to the airport, bingo. I mean this can really make travelling to the U.K a lot easier and more comfortable, having to re-new your visa every a few months can be a headache sometimes especially when you are on short notice and need to get the visa quickly, also visa has become more costly in recent years.
However, I’m not yet sure when they will start the new system but probably during first quarter of 2013?
I was heading to Sabah Health Region early this morning and it was crowded as hell, I thought it’s because there’s an accident but turned out that Ghazali road and bridge were closed. Some claim the bridge was closed because a concrete block has fallen on an SUV passing under the bridge all of sudden (luckily no one was hurt) but Ministry of Public Works insists that closure is due to the development of Jahra Road.
Bad news here is that Ghazali road will be closed till 2016 so those who need to head to Shuwaikh should wake up really early to avoid endless traffic jams.
One of our blog readers has just sent us a picture for Kim Kardashian arriving secretly to Kuwait and meeting with US Ambassador to Kuwait, secret sources says she’ now residing in a hotel, some say Crowne Plaza but nothing for sure. Meanwhile she’s getting ready for the opening of Millions of Milkshakes and to launch Kardashian Kollection at Dorothy Perkins tomorrow at the Avenues. She looks kinda serious in that black outfit don’t you think?
I saw announcement on Wataniya Airways website stating that they started ticket refunds after one year and a half since they halted their flights all of a sudden, many customers sent me messages and emails complaining that they did not get a refund for their booked tickets, some even filed lawsuits. The company is now apologizing to their customers and are asking them to contact them on their email “knainfo@yahoo.com” so they can do the necessary.
I was suspecting that Wataniya Airways may actually come back [link] and I think they are now trying to regain people trust.
Update: I received news that customers can now refund their money by visiting the travel agencies they used to book the tickets, or visit the company head office if they used Wataniya website for booking. 29 January 2013
