jumeirah-messilah-beach-hotel-exterior-heroI was checking popular hotels booking websites and found that Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel & Spa booking has started. It took them so long and opening was postponed several times but finally they are now open. According to Jumeirah official website the current best rate is KD55 for the 2 adults deluxe room (that’s a reasonable price per night if you ask me). I read in the room descriptions that it includes a king-size bed and walk-in shower with separate bath, bathrobes, toiletries, slippers and cable TV, sounds comfy.

jumeirah-messilah-beach-hotel-and-spa-deluxe-room-heroThe other facilities that guests can benefit from includes wireless internet access, DVD player with 42” LCD TV, minibar, tea & coffee facilities, automatic blinds, a writing desk and safe large enough for your most important belongings. There are also non-smoking rooms available and guests can request adjoining rooms, or a room with disabled access. The hotel houses 8 restaurants/cafe’s (Italian, seafood, International cuisine, healthy and light bites, Arabian and steakhouse). There’s also an exquisite SPA, I saw the pictures and it does indeed look relaxing. Outside there’s a nice walkway, chalets, tables overlooking the sea, and a private beach.

It’s great to see yet another 5-star hotel opening in Kuwait to offer tourists and locals more options. I’m definitely going to try book for the Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel sometime this summer, I’m also planning to try their steakhouse next weekend.

Note: Pictures are from Jumeirah Messilah official website.

IMG_5166-Medium-425x239I received emails from readers asking me when exactly Jumeirah-Messilah Beach Hotel is opening and why it got delayed but I didn’t have exact answer because last time I visited the hotel I saw it was almost ready for the opening, they were just furnishing and finalizing and I recall they told me it will open by end of 2012 but it seems there’s a delay. I tried to contact a friend who works at the hotel and asked the very same questions, my friend said they are trying their best to avoid further delay for the opening and the new postponed opening date is on the 15th of March 2013, so that’s about three weeks from now.

Jumeirah-Messilah Beach Hotel is indeed a great addition to the current 5 stars hotels in Kuwait, though I wish we had more new 5 stars resorts and hotels opening. See my previous sneak peek for Jumeirah-Messilah Beach Hotel [link]

I arrived at Jumeirah Emirates Tower in Dubai, I was trying to book for The Address hotel but the rate was too high (about KD178) because of the holidays, so changed my plans and guess what? I’m so excited with my experience in Jumeirah Emirates Tower so far. It’s a 5 star hotel, I managed to get the room for about KD85 (single room no breakfast) per night, it’s located on Sheikh Zayed Road and 5 minutes drive from Dubai Mall.

The high rise hotel has 56 floors and had a private parking lot near the entrance, inside everything looked luxurious; the lobby, the rooms, the restaurants. The room was spacious, not spacious and luxurious as say Armani Hotel but for KD85 it’s perfect, all facilities were there; comfy beds, free WiFi connection, coffee maker, a safe, automatic lighting and curtains, LED TV. Also the bathroom and shower were nice.

Though what I really liked is the free shuttle service that takes you to Dubai Mall and provides free access to Wild Wadi Water Park and private beaches of Jumeirah Beach Hotel, cool. The hotel also had a nice swimming pool. So do I recommend Jumeirah Emirates Towers? Read my review again and you will get the answer.

I had an entertaining visit yesterday afternoon to the awaited Jumeirah Beach Hotel & SPA, it’s better known as Messilah-Beach Hotel which is located by Fahaheel express way next to the Messilah beach resort. I arrived at the main entrance at 4:00 pm where I met with people from their sales department that took me on a tour.

I have to say the extrerior look of the hotel did not give me the impression that it’s very luxurious on the inside, the architectural design was made by reowned Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM); same designers for Burj Khalifa and Al Hamra Tower.

I noticed the hotel was designed to look like a U-shape, they said this allows maximum number of rooms with sea view, since Kuwait municipality doesn’t allow tall buildings by the sea.

Inside there was a large reception with a nice lounge, the finishing was high quality with astonishing interior designs. The hotel covers a total area of 55,000 Sq. meter including a private beach, 307 rooms, 80 suites, 6 restaurants, two ballrooms, SPA, GYM, and more. On the back side there was 80 meter long private beach with 12 villas and children’s play area. Unfortunately I couldn’t see their rooms because it was getting late, but they gave me pictures for the rooms and other facilities.

I asked them about the opening date, they said probably by end of 2012. I find Jumeirah Messilah Beach a great addition to the 5-stars hotels in Kuwait, I’ll make sure to visit it when it opens, as for now enjoy the photos that I have struggled to take.

I arrived at the Torch Hotel yesterday afternoon, I heard great stuff about it from friends who visited Qatar before so I decided to book a Delux room for three nights, the rate was also tempting 700 Riyals (about KD60) per night including breakfast, its about 20 minutes drive from Doha airport.

The Torch can be seen from kilometers away because its a high rise tower (51 floors) with a nice architectural design that resembles a torch, its adjacent to Villaggio mall but sadly its closed for inspection due to the fire.

Inside, they had big lobby and reception area with amazing designs having sport theme; luckily my room was on the 11th floor so I enjoy nice window view. The hotel has two major restaurants; The Flying Carpet and 360 Degrees Restaurant located on the 47th floor and rotates, nice.

They had really fast glass elevators, the room is spacious with king size bed, the window view is nice but its blocked from the steel structure, the curtains and lights are controlled with a switch. The bathroom and shower were cool, I also liked that there was a fast free WiFi internet that can be surfed from the TV or by connecting your laptop or phone.

I loved the idea of color-changing wall lights, you can choose green, red, blue, violet, purple …etc. lighting for you bedroom, room service was also great and breakfast was exquisite.

They had a small gym at the 19th floor with an outdoor swimming pool, there was also a SPA and a nice lounge. If you wish to go anywhere they offer their BMW limo service for 100 Riyals flat rate.

I have taken many pictures for the Torch Hotel to give you an idea how my experience was, enjoy.

I was searching over the 5-star hotels in Kuwait and found out that we only have 10, honestly I thought we had more. It turned out there are several hotels that are about to open and I think this is because the government had announced about a plan to turn Kuwait into a financial center couple years back.

Jumeirah Messilah: I’m waiting for this one which covers 55,000 Sq. meter area and expected to open on September 2012 because I heard many great stuff about it including a private beach, 80 suites, 12 villas, 6 restaurants, two ballrooms, Spa and more. Its located at Messilah area just beside Messilah beach.

InterContinental: I see it every time I’m driving on Gulf road nearby Sultan Center, I’m loving the location and the architectural design especially the entrance but there will be no private beach. I suspect the room window view will be amazing, I was told that it will open probably next September or October 2012.

Salmiyah Hotel: This is isn’t exactly a 5-star hotel but the company promised to deliver 5-stars experience, located on Fahaheel express way at Salmiyah and from what I saw that its in the final stages of construction, the cost is 35 Million KD. Some of the facilities include 300 rooms and royal suites, 3 ballrooms, restaurants..etc.

Radisson Blu Hotel: This one is not new but its currently under a total renovation and will soon have a face-lift on the outside and inside as well, I’ve seen some of the after photos and it looks amazing though I’m not yet sure when it will be re-opened?

Hotel Missoni: This one is a relatively new (opened March 2011) but until now its my favorite hotel in Kuwait, I just love how it was designed and furnished. See my previous post about it here

So did I miss anything?  Though I hope with the opening of these new hotels the room rates will decrease.

I finally managed to get a reservation for Armani Hotel at Burj Khalifa as it was always fully booked, it was opened back in 2010 and I heard a lot of buzz about it.

I got the single room for 2000 Dhs (about KD 160), I stepped inside to see a very luxurious lobby, the design was elegant in every tiny detail.

I can tell you its one of the most finest hotels that I’ve seen so far, there are 160 rooms designed and crafted by designer Giorgio Armani himself.

As can be expected from Armani’s designs, the hotel is super luxurious and sophisticated from its curved walls clad in luxurious fabrics and handmade leather, to the liquid metal finish on the oak tables and bespoke Armani Casa furniture.

It has 5 restaurants, a retail and spa area, swimming pool, and a gym spread out on 6 floors. Luxury aside, the room was spacious and smartly designed where everything can be controlled with the remote (lights, door, curtains, and even call to reception).

I also liked the security measures where the elevators won’t operate without the room card, the staff was also professional and attentive.

Luckily I could see Dubai mall and the musical fountain from my window, amazing especially at night.

I liked how the room has living hall along with visitors toilet separated from the bedroom, there were also free high speed WiFi.

Beside the high price, the shortcomings were the relatively small gym, swimming pool, also I noticed that when I call reception there’s a slight delay, and finally comes the low rooms availability.

During my two nights visit to Yas Island in Abu Dhabi I chose Yas Hotel for my stay, its located within the Formula One Circuit.

Its a 5-star hotel and single room costs 1,110 Dhs (about 80 KD) per night. I’m sure many of you have seen it already because it has a catchy exterior design with nice blue LED lighting.

I noticed how the interior design was made to resemble speed and movement with curvy corridors and lines.

The single room was bigger than the other hotels with many smart features like controlling the lights with a remote control, the bed was big and comfortable, free fast WiFi service, nice seating area, and a Nespresso coffee machine.

Looking outside my window I could see the racing cars and the marina view.

Stuff like bathrobe, hair blower, safe, towels were also provided. The Hotel has 4 restaurants (International, Sea Food, Chienese, Arabian), gym, open-air bar, swimming pool, spa, outside seating area, and nice lobby.

Some of the downsides I observed were; room blacony won’t open, telephone is located away from the bed, and pricing can get even higher on weekends or during events, and ordering dinner can be pricey.

I enjoyed my stay at Yas Hotel and I recommend you to try it when ever you visit Yas Island.

I just checked in Al Murooj Rotana hotel in Dubai, luckily Dubai Mall is just across the street and the window view is nice. I arrived at 9:30 AM but they said all rooms were booked so I had to come back again at 2:00 pm to get a room.

The hotel is a 5-star and I paid 810Dhs (64 K.D) per night for the single room, the reception is nice and the room is neat.

We chose the new Fairmont hotel (Clock tower hotel) for our stay at Makkah. On the outside its massive and elegantly designed with the huge clock on top of it.

Inside it was spacious and nicely decorated, very aesthetic and prestigious. The security measures were high, there were guards in almost every corner.

I liked the furnishments a lot, though it was little exhausting to use two elevators to get to your room. Double room costs 84 K.D, but we got it for 74 K.D including breakfast.

The room was neat, spacious and luxurious. Relaxing beds, nice lighting and free Internet connection and nice window view for Al Haram. Room service was excellent and responsive too.

They had a restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Their breakfast is one of the best that I have seen with regards to food taste, quality, and diversity.
