I just read on several websites that SONY will most likely unveil Playstation 4 on the 20th of February, that’s only a few weeks from now. I guess there’s a drag race between Microsoft and SONY, both companies are trying to release their consoles rather quickly. I’m now wondering what will be the specs for PS4 but rumors say it will sport 8GB or 16GB memory, quad core AMD’s A8 processor with 3.2 Ghz clock speed and Radeon HD 7670 graphics card with 1Ghz clock speed and 1GB memory. I hope rumors are not true because these specs seem average, also I thought they were going for Nvidia GeForce but Radeon is hot too.

Word on the street is that PS4 will produce maximum resolution of 2160p for 2D and 1080p for 3D but I guess we have to wait till we get the official specs. So who do you think will be more powerful, upcoming Xbox 720 or SONY PS4?

This is dedicated to every old-timer gamer in Kuwait, do you remember the White Tower? I was doing some shopping in Salmiya and decided to pass by it and see if its still there. I remember White Tower was the most popular gaming hub in Kuwait with numerous shops and Arcade machines back in early 90′s, it was the weekend getaway for every hard gamer. I arrived at The White Tower and saw some guys playing Street Fighter IV and Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom. I chitchatted with the owner who said that most of the games shops were closed down except the main shop and I asked why not organize a big gaming tournament to resurrect the place, he said they do have one big gaming tournament coming up in February where they will be inviting many international pro players with over $15,000 prizes, sounds fun. I tried to bring back some really old memories by actually getting some coins and playing some of the Arcade games and it was fun even though I lost almost all my gaming skills.

I was exiting The Avenues Mall through 4th Ring Road and saw Toys “R” Us has opened their 2nd branch in Shuweikh across the street from Safat Al Ghanim near Sultan Wholesale Center, this is their biggest toys store in Kuwait with an area of 25,000 sq. meter on three levels. It reminds me of of Kids R Us back in the 80′s, I remember it was like a heaven back then.

The Arabic translation for Toys “R” Us felt kinda funny.

I saw on the popular video games website IGN that world Street Fighter champion and Sagat player, Ryan Hart, is coming to Kuwait to participate in the biggest fighting game tournament in the Middle East which will take place at GUST on November. I read the tournament will feature prizes worth over KD4,500 and will include games like Street Fighter IV, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Ultimate Marvel versus Capcom 3, and Persona 4, looks fun!

Update: The tournament organizers has contacted me, they say the first winner in each game will get KD600, and 2nd gets KD300 and rest will get KD100

Toys R Us will open another bigger branch in Shuweikh by the 4th Ring Road next to Sultan Center and Prontowash, this is their 2nd branch in Kuwait after the one in 360 Mall. It reminds me a lot of Kids R Us back in the 80′s, I remember it was like a heaven back then.

I wish they bring Kids R Us back, until today I’m still wondering why they shut it down? Maybe because it has the same concept as Toy R Us? For now I’ll leave you with their TV ad to bring you some lovely memories.
