Cioccolato Italiani will not open:The Italian chocolate cafe that I was patiently waiting for sadly won’t open, I don’t know what happened but apparently it will be replaced with Hédiard which I read is a luxury shop/outlet specialized in gastronomy from Paris.
Ted Baker Now Open: It was just opened at level 2, I’m noting that more and more British franchises are opening in Kuwait lately though I’d like to see HMV, Fred Perry, Lillywhites, Waterstones, and Mad House opening in Kuwait. The other Ted Baker boutique is located at 360 Mall
Loriblu: I never heard of this brand but seemingly it’s an Italian fashion brand and will open soon at level 1 of the mall.
The Kurt Geiger boutique that I told you about was just opened at 360 Mall, I know the photo above shows the boutique closed because it was late and I was going to the cinema. I like Kurt Geiger because they have stylish yet affordable shoes, it’s located at ground level right next to the elevator that takes you to the cinema and they seem they have a good collection.
My friend sent me photo for PRADA boutique just opened their second boutique in Kuwait at The Prestige District, it looks bigger than the one at 360 Mall, probably one of the biggest Prada boutiques I’ve seen so far built on two levels. I’m loving the design of the boutique, looks so prestigious indeed. There are goods for both men and women (ready-to-wear, leather accessories, shoes, luggage and hats), I must give it a visit sometime this weekend to check on their collection, after all Devil still Wear Prada.
British luxury fashion house, Burberry, for clothing and fashion accessories and fragrances has also opened their boutique at The Prestige ground floor, it’s bigger than the one at 360 Mall. I heard Burberry is having sale at their 360 Mall boutique so it’s a great chance.
Seemingly Kim Kardashian always has a way to piss off Arab world, our friend Buzfairy posted a video for Kim Kardashian behind the scenes photo-shooting for Lebanese Magazine Hia. The shooting shows Kim styling what many are describing “in-decent” Arabian Abaya.
I’m a fan of the American brand Kurt Geiger because they have stylish yet affordable shoes. I was at 360 Mall and saw they are opening another boutique, I remember their first boutique was opened back in 2008 at the Avenues Phase II.
I’m seeing many guys are nowadays carrying luxurious small purses with strap that they use to carry the bag (see above), I guess they use the bag because most guys have two mobile phones plus the car keys, wallet, shades, and maybe perfume or hand sanitizer so having this small bag makes life easier. Though I noticed most guys make sure to get these luxury bags from Louis Vuitton, FENDI, Burberry, Gucci…etc. so price is not less than KD150 I suppose.
One of my favorite luxury brands, Escada, has just opened their 2nd boutique in Kuwait at The Prestige district in the Avenues. I recall the company filed bankruptcy in 2009 but I was glad they made a big come back, I like their distinctive designs that feature unusual combinations of colors and patterns.
I recall their other boutique was located in Salhiya but it was closed, I’m now hardly waiting for Chanel to open.
Looks like the sale season in Kuwait is starting early this year, usually starts on last few days of December, January, and early February. This is great news for shopaholics because this will help their wallets stay fat, well not exactly but relatively. I passed by Marina Mall and Fanar and saw numerous shops and brands with sale tags, most were 50%-70% off, which is great.
The bitter part though is that things you paid say KD100 to buy are now sold for KD30, this makes me consider changing my shopping timing and I’ll make sure to do my shopping when sale begins. List below are the brands on sale;
BOSS 70%
ZARA
GIVENCHY 80%
Massimo Dutti 50%
BOGGI Milano 50%
Decathlon 25%
Beidoun 50%
Timberland
Mango 70%
Choice
Shoe Box 50%
PULL & BEAR 50%
Steps 75%
la SENZA
NINE WEST 50%
aysho 50%
Punt Roma 50%
Bershka 50%
The Athlete’s Foot 50%
ALDO 60%
Sunglass hut
Lily
UTERQUE 40%
echo
Aqua 60%
Please note that most sales above are up to, I think many great sales are also going on in the other malls. However Alshaya shops have not yet started their sale but I guess soon, I’m now waiting for the high-end brands to start their sale too.
I was chilling and doing some minor shopping at Salhiya last night and it just impresses me how it still maintains a good position with regards to luxury shopping even though it’s one of the oldest malls in Kuwait, I mean with Al Hamra Luxury Center, 360 Mall, and the recent opening of The Prestige District at the Avenues I thought Salhiya will be abandoned and will turn into a ghost mall but on the contrary seemingly many still prefer to do their luxury shopping or simply meet up with friends at Salhiya.
This could also mean that luxury shopping market in Kuwait is getting bigger with more people seeking high-end brands and goods, several first-time brands have made their way to Kuwait market just recently Viz. Hermès, PRADA, MIU MIU, Harvey Nichols…etc. and we can also see that the existing luxury brands are also opening newer and much bigger boutiques, Louis Vuitton and Dior have just opened their largest boutiques in the Middle East in Kuwait. Yes I still love going to Salhiya, do you?
I’m now at the Avenues Phase III and I saw that both The Prestige and Souk districts were opened, I took a quick stroll around The Prestige and fellas don’t tell your ladies about it because they will surely make your wallets super slim especially when they see the largest Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana and Dior boutiques in the Middle East. The Prestige is built on two levels and there were several first-time high-end brands in Kuwait in addition to some cafe’s, the part that I liked most was the luxurious material used in finishing works and the color changing dome and fountain in the center, also boutiques designs were catchy, it somehow reminds me of the luxury zone in Dubai Mall. Some of the boutiques and cafe’s that I saw include;
The Souk District was also opened today and as expected it resembles the design of Mubarkia souk with small lanes and traditional shops scattered around. Like I said before that my remark is that the lanes were very narrow, so I guess it will be hard for shoppers to move around at peak hours.
I’m now at the Avenues Phase Phase III and I’m seeing that more stores are opening, these are the new stores that were opened;
Iconic: an Australian fashion brand opened at level 1 of The Mall district. They have good stuff for both men and women such as shirts, skirts, t-shirt, trendy jackets, coats, accessories, jeanz, footwear…etc. but what’s intriguing is that they have a separate section for Abaya’s and Jalebiyas keeping in mind the market’s cultural diversity.
This is their first store in Kuwait and it’s big and well organized.
The North Face: This is their first store in Kuwait, it’s an American outdoor brand specializing in outerwear, fleece, coats, shirts, footwear, and equipment such as backpacks, tents, and sleeping bags for campers, climbers, hikers, mountainers…etc.
Puma: This is Puma dedicated store, they have shoes, shirts, bags, shorts, accessories…etc. Their other branch is located at Al Hamra Luxury Center in Sharq.
