I saw on the paper that Ahmedi will organize a festive Carnival and a musical parade to celebrate Kuwait National Day near Al Koot Mall next Thursday in addition to bicycles and running tournaments on the 9th of March. I loved how Ahmedi was decorated with colorful lights and I think the carnival will be fun to attend.
Remember my post about Kuwait endeavor to break Guinness World Record by making the biggest flag in the world[link]? I was approached by the organizers and they say the event will be held tomorrow at Jaber Al Ahmad International Stadium at Al Ardhiya area. I think over 50,000 volunteers are needed to achieve this goal but I’m not sure if they have the complete number as of yet because the event was not properly covered by the press, each group of the volunteers will wear certain colored shirts (black, white, green, red) to form Kuwaiti flag, a representative from Guinness will attend the event and there will be a musical show.
If you wish to get to the stadium you will need to take the 6th Ring Road toward Jahra where you will see 360 Mall on your right, keep going straight until you see the stadium on your left, there’s a traffic light so make sure to stay on the right lane.
I went to Marina Crescent in the morning to see the Bungee Jumping because I never saw one in Kuwait before, I also wanted to know how high they will be jumping from. There was a company called Sky Breakers that was running the event, their staff say they have arranged bungy (bungee), stunt and adventure events since 1989. They have used a big and tall crane with a basket to take the jumpers to a very high height, maybe more than 50 meters, right above Marina Crescent bay where they will then take the ‘leap of faith’, the jumpers were screaming all the way down. I suspect jumping from this height will smash your adrenalin levels and will make you feel like you were re-born.
The Bungee Jumping was not all about men because I saw girls filling some forms because they wanted to try the jump. I asked how much? They said KD20 per one person and that the event will continue till the 24th February. I’m going to jump tomorrow in the early morning, who’s in?
By the way, I also noted that there were a shopping expo going on at Marina Crescent.
Someone from 360 Mall has sent email about an interesting and first time thing in Kuwait that will be held at the Mall, it’s an event where they will be assembling one of the oldest British military air-crafts in Kuwait named Spitfire that was manufactured in 40′s and used during World War II in front of the public. The interesting part is that this aircraft is still operational and can fly too.
Hala February Festivals will begin tomorrow with the opening carnival at Salem Mubarak street in Salmiyah where families and kids can enjoy many shows, music, prizes, and various activities. I read the Carnival will be more unique this year and there will be a flashmob and biggest mobile stage in the world, February is surely the month of excitement and events in Kuwait.
I usually take the kids to the carnival to have fun, see our previous coverage here
