trafficAs a follow up to my previous post, I wanted to share with you this article I just read on Kuwait Times about how by the end of the year, 92 new traffic cameras will be monitoring the Arabian Gulf Road including video and audio! Hmmmm.. If this is true and they really do implement the new cameras then that would be a great step forward for Kuwait. Hopefully, if these cameras are implemented correctly with proper laws to be followed by everyone then Kuwait might start having fewer death rates. Stay safe Kuwait!

dolphin-kuwait

Hi everyone. I received an email about dead dolphins washing up on the shore in Abu Hassaniya area. Apparently, every year around this time (December- May) more and more dolphins are being washed up on shore and no one knows the case behind it. Kuwait Times have published something regarding this issue , and it would be nice to know exactly what is going on because its so sad to see this happen every year.
Thank you [TK] for the tip.

20130504_225321 (Medium)On my way back home late in the evening I spotted Baladiya garbage trucks with posters promoting domestic trash recycling. Now this is good way to promote recycling concept and create more awareness but my question is; what’s the point of separating home garbage (paper, glass, waste…etc.) if garbage trucks will crush it all together and have it sent to landfills to be burned and buried. It’s sad to see that true recycling is still non-existent in Kuwait, I recall Baladiya stating before that separate trash cans will be provided for houses and buildings but nothing so far.

turning_back_21169_1_1_8647Since when was being too good looking a crime? Since when were good looking people not allowed to go out in public? And since when did people become so close-minded? I came across this article the other day stating that three Emirati men were thrown out of the Heritage & Culture Festival in Riyadh because they were too handsome and they were deported on the spot to Abu Dhabi! Seriously? If Saudi men are in fear of their women looking at “too handsome” men, then why would they host a mixed festival in the first place? Plus, how handsome can they really be? And what is too handsome anyways? This is the link for the article [link]

Ladies, please share your thoughts; what are the criteria for handsome men? Because truly I haven’t seen any of those around lately!

Update: I saw this short video for the man that they claimed was thrown out of the Heritage & Culture Festival in Riyadh because of his handsomeness.

kuwaitAs he walked into his classroom, he spotted his desk at the back corner and made his way. With each step his breaths became heavier and louder. He reached the desk, dropped his backpack to the floor and squished his way into the desk. His jelly belly hung over his knees and his flabby arms scraped against the desktop.

“Hahaha, look at you! You can’t even fit into your own desk!” exclaimed a child sitting next to him. His chubby cheeks flushed red and tears stung his eyes. It was true, he had outgrown his desk and he couldn’t deny that.

Hamad is a 10-year-old who knows what he likes. The list includes play station, music, and skyping with his little brother.

The list also includes food: eating, snacking and nibbling.

“I want a burger,” Hamad told his mother. “I want a brownie… I want chips.”

But it’s not just a brownie Hamad wants. He also wants French toast, French fries,  ice cream, pasta, etc. …

Weighing 50 kilos, Hamad is the biggest boy in his 3rd grade class.

But does Hamad really have a weight problem? Or does he just have some extra baby fat?

Yes, Hamad does have a weight problem and so does almost half of Kuwait. Going back to a previous post about Kuwait being the 2nd fattest country in the world; I can now announce that we have surpassed the United States and have become #1.

According to Mail Online, Kuwait is top of the list with the highest average body mass index with Kuwaiti women having the highest rates!

c6a301e387It’s really sad to see these statistics and I think that we need some more mental awareness going on in Kuwait cautioning that this has become a serious issue. Does anyone have any ideas on what we can do to raise such awareness?
