leonidstadnyk (83)According to my research, the tallest man in the world is actually Leonid Stadnyk from the Ukraine with a height of 2.57 m (8 ft 5 in). But due to Stadnyk’s refusal to be measured under the Guinness standard guidelines which require several measurements throughout the course of 24 hours under the watchful eye of a Guinness Book representative, he was not officially listed as the tallest man.

I guess some people just don’t like to be put under the spotlight!

bloglogobigWe’re more than glad to tell you that we are back on track, I’m sure you all noticed that there was a problem with the blog yesterday and all those who tried to access it via Google Chrome browser got the warning message ”Visiting this web site may harm your computer!”, hats off to all readers who immediately informed us about it so we could take the necessary actions to get it fixed. Sadly Internet is not always a safe place, we hear almost everyday about hackers attacking popular websites and we are no exception even though we always endeavor to take the maximum security measures. What really happened is that some hacker somewhere found a vulnerability which was used to access the blog data base and insert a malicious code somewhere and when Google malware scanned the website it reported the issue and blocked the website from being accessed.

I’ve to admit it was so frustrating and we got panic at first but we had to calm down and think of what to do next to resolve the problem as soon as possible, after all we don’t want to scare our visitors when they see this warning appearing every time they try to access BananaQ8 Blog. Literally, it took us the whole day trying to figure where was the malware code hid and how to remove it, we tried everything from A to Z, we even called our hosting company and they said they can’t do anything about it because they are not experts in programming and their job is to only provide domain services, however they suggested that we delete the whole content on the server and re-upload the latest backup, oh yeah? This will not only make problem worse but will also take days. We didn’t stop right there and do nothing but we kept trying to check everything and remove any suspicious files and scripts, we also changed all the passwords and updated our anti-spyware software and we had to request from uncle Google to re-scan the blog to remove it from the blacklist and unfortunately this takes from 3 hours up to 72 hours to get the results.

So thanks god we managed to finally get it resolved and get the blog to work again, not the best way to spend your weekend! We just want to say we are glad that we are back and to be in touch with you all again. Thanks for your extreme understanding and patience we really appreciate it, after all we only exist because of you.

I received a scam/fraud email from unknown sender claiming that they are from NBK online security, the email content as follows:

NBK

Dear Customer, As we are changing the way you login into your WOL, you are required to follow the steps that can be accessed below to enable us update your WATANI ONLINE information.

Secured: https://online.nbk.com.kw/WOLWebUI/2013eud.aspx

Thanks, Watani Oline Security

Then when users click the link provided it takes them to scam page that looks identical to NBK online page and asks them to enter their card number, WOL password, ATM card number, and ATM pin. I had my extreme doubts so I called NBK customer care to report it and they confirmed that this is a fraud/scam and said they will inform top management, so be aware and inform all your friends and relatives with NBK accounts.
