I’m so happy that Kuwait has scored many world records in 2012, the latest was yesterday by lighting 40,000 candles in shape of the word AUTISM (both in English and Arabic) at Kuwait sport club in Kaifan area.

The guy from Guinness organization was impressed by the many world records achieved in Kuwait in 2012. I’d like to thank Kuwait Center for Autism for organizing this nice event for the achievement. Congrats!

Thanks [REACH]

I came across this ad for Eureka on the paper, if I understand correctly they’re claiming that if you bring their competitors offers for any electronic brand along with you to their store then they will give it to you at a lower price on the same day (Hopefully significantly less). I usually don’t trust ads because there’re always hidden things between the lines but I’ll try for the new Apple iPad to see if this is true.

The traffic department has displayed this wrecked car on Gulf Street to be used as a dramatic ad for over-speeding and crazy driving in Kuwait, do you think this will help with accidents?

Frankly I think not because there’re already umpteen crashed cars that can be seen on Kuwait streets though its a good start.

So today we were cordially invited for the opening of the biggest and most awaited expo in Kuwait, Proud to Be Kuwaiti (AKA P2BK) at Kuwait International Fair.

[YouTube link]

P2BK started back in 2008 and was known for the support it gives to Kuwaiti projects, businesses, and even talents.

P2BK gets better every year, it started as an expo and extended to include many other events, many little projects grew bigger with their support.

I took a tour around the expo and saw many ideas and projects plus there were talent and musical shows.

I liked how they isolated food section to avoid smell, but I wished if they placed each type of business in a separate corner.

Our pro photographer friend, Hussein Al Hashimi, shared with us this amazing video that took him 6 months of hard work to produce and over 120 hours of recording and the result is an astounding masterpiece that shows the most beautiful tiny details of our beloved Kuwait, just watching it almost gave me goosebumps.

The gear Hussein used were Canon 60D, Sigma 10-20 mm, Canon 24-70 mm and Dynamic Perception dolly.

Hussein had to sleep in the desert for days even without a tent enduring very cold temperature for the sake of the shooting. Below are some shots that were taken during the making of this video.

One word to say to our friend Hussein, thank you we are so proud of you!

Note: Please set the video resolution to 1080p for full experience.

I was having my usual tall skim mocha coffee at Starbucks and saw they have introduced a new card which allows customers to use Wi-Fi Internet service for free, that’s good since I used to pay to get Internet.

I asked the Barista about the card and she explained that this card is free and customers can use it to pay instead of paying cash, money can be deposited to the card to be used anytime, card can also be given as a gift. I think Kuwait Starbucks is the first to have such cards.

I saw this video titled, Hona Al Kuwait, produced by Cinemagic and directed by Faisal Aljassar for Kuwait and I admire how they did amazing work to present Kuwait in a unique way.

I think they used a copter to shoot the video, so far this is one of the nicest presentations I’ve seen for Kuwait.

Note: Set video resolution to 1080p.

I saw billboards on Kuwait streets stating that Thukher (ذخر) are now open for those who wish to apply, don’t know what Thukher is? Its a national project to develop the next generation leaders with skills necessary to lead tomorrow’s organizations in Kuwait and lead toward development.

Those who pass the tests will get special courses at Cornell University in Ithaca New York, if you ask me its a great step for one’s career and Kuwait. To apply Cick Here

I saw that the first Ralph Lauren Home and Baker furniture stores in Kuwait were opened at Tilal complex in Shuweikh, I took a quick tour at the two stores and must say I fell in love with what I saw.

They had luxurious furniture, lighting, fabric, trimmings, wallcovering, bedding, home fragrances, gifts & accessories. I guess I would never leave house if its furnished with such furniture !

We got invited by Dr. Naif Al-Mutawa for the VIP preview of The 99: Unbound film under the patronage of HH Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, The Emir of Kuwait.

I’m sure many of you already heard or read about The 99 which was first launched in 2006 as comics featuring a team of superheroes based on Islamic culture and religion.

Dr. Naif was highly recognized in the U.S and was hosted by TED conference and honored by President Obama; his main objective is to change the perception of Islam in the west.

The 99: Unbound story revolves about characters that has special powers and use it for the good. The comics were later turned into a film that made its debut a the New York Film Festival and due for release in Kuwait on the 25th February in both Arabic and English languages.

I liked the concept, the graphics might not compete with Disney or Pixar but I’m very positive.

Do you think we have enough ISP’s in Kuwait? Currently we have Kems, GulfNet, Fasttelco, QualityNet, mada, and now there’s a new company called WIMD that has just joined the market.

[YouTube link]

I had the chance to talk with their representative who explained to me their concept; basically they have established a wireless network covering all Kuwait to transfer the data, unlike traditional DSL that uses landlines.

They also said users will get dedicated bandwidth so that bandwidth speed is maintained at all times, they are targeting high speed Internet market.

Above table shows their prices per year and they admit that their prices are higher than the current market prices but when quality is concerned they are the best. Hopefully I’ll be able to test them soon so I could give you my detailed feedback.
