I’ve a little confession to make, since I got my car back in 2009 I never took it to any detailing car wash center or even made polish to the paint, all I did was get some stuff from ACE Hardware and wash it at home when needed. I was asked from a newly opened detailing auto center in Al Rai area called Q Design to pass by to review their services, so I thought to myself ok let’s give the detailing a try and see if it’s worth the hype and money.
A little brief; Q Design Auto Center is a Kuwaiti-based concept for car washing, detailing, tinting, and paint protection ran by two young Kuwaitis. I arrived around 7:30 pm and took a quick tour around the center, it’s nicely designed with a total area of about 1,000 sq. meter. I spoke with the owners who explained their idea, what I liked about them is the transparency, they didn’t give me magical words or promises but they said they’ll do their best to make my car look fresh.
I liked how they divided the cleaning process into steps, first they have registration and checking point to write down any remarks, then there was an auto preparing section where my car was deeply washed from outside, I saw they use special chemicals and equipment for every part of the car which is good, they also used different brushes to clean each part separately such as the rims, exhaust, tires…etc. They also hoisted the car to clean the bottom, I never imagined all this dirt would come off. Then they started cleaning inside my car, the trunk, the leather seats with different tools and special cleansers.
They also had a machine to check the micro scratches for the paint, they said with their full detailing they can remove most of those micro scratches but I’ve to leave the car for couple days, but this time I just wanted to review their regular detailing.
They finished around 9:30 pm, so totally 2 hours but the end result was impressive, the car did look really fresh and clean outside and inside. It also smelt good, and the stubborn stains on the dashboard and paint were mostly gone. I asked them about their prices, they said they have three packages; silver detailing for KD45, gold detailing for KD65, and platinum detailing for KD85, and the normal washing for KD5 and for cleaning the bottom of the car it costs KD7. They said they also offer paint protection (using 3M) for KD180 (currently they are running promotion KD150) and tinting for KD120 including thermal insulation and 5 years warranty.
Personally I was satisfied with their service level and quality. The fun part though is that as I was enjoying my driving my car this early morning it suddenly started raining, but the car still looks cleaner than before.

The guy with the laptop in picture, looks very serious in his job !
How much detailing for Porsche Carrera S? how is the quality for paint protection? thanks
I may give them a try with my Toyota, do you recommend them for fixing protection?
we do the small car 45 KD but now we offer it for 40KD with Q selat which is 6 month protection for free and about the piant protection we use the 3m Ventureshield with 10 years warranty .
3M is the best out there
i did my car paint protection with them and there service are really good
I think cars should not be cleaned underneath with soap as it may remove the protective grease under the car that protects from rust
if any chemicals were used to wash the outside of your car i recommend protecting it IMMEDIATELY. although it does look much cleaner your car is now more prone to paint damage. best way is just water with vinegar/mild soap.
Same thing goes for the under body because there might be protection.
why don’t you clean your car yourself? (genuine question)
i’m assuming the answer is: mali 5ilg.
Thanks for the great piece of advice Nixon, yes I bought the needed stuff from ACE but you are right I should start washing my car myself, this way I can be more careful not to get it dirty to avoid washing job more often.
