A few days back we conducted a survey to know what people think about Internet prices in Kuwait, and today we bring you the results:

Its clearly shown that the majority (65%) of people in Kuwait think that the current prices are too high, while 26% still think its in the high range, 5% think its normal and only 4% think its low.

As I said before, the Internet services and speeds have improved over the last years in Kuwait but people strongly believe that prices should be reduced.
I also came to know about a newly formed Facebook page with people demanding to stop the Internet capacity limit in Kuwait, they say that the Internet companies are setting up a daily cap limit for the Internet, and that currently only Fast Telco who did not set a daily cap.
I really hope Internet companies to reconsider, to visit the Facebook page click here

The Daily “usage cap” is not at 2.8GB, this is for subscribers with 2MB/s DSL connections, your cap is based on your connection speed! check out the entire chart of Qnet scheme http://www.qualitynet.net/?page_id=2102 ,

I’ve spoken to one of their customer support supervisors & spilled everything on him basically, he admits that it’s not of a good new policy and that he’ll forward all of my concerns to the higher mangers! I’ve also noted if they were forced to apply such policy by MOC or something and if so, they should post a clear letter to all their customers stating/posting an actual copy of the letter/rule they’ve received from MOC so we as customers can know where to address our complaints or concerns to! he also suggested that Qnet for the time being should change their “daily cap” limit & have it switched to a “weekly limit” instead , since most of us spend most of the weekends out in shalaih’s or hanging out, and won’t be consuming most of our daily limit , that way , we would have more quota during the week!

I have to say that the guy I talked to was very polite & understanding, he even spent around an hour on the phone with me & I really thank him for doing so!

Let’s hope that this matter gets resolved soon !

So if this is correct I am supposed to get 21.6 Mbps from viva that would make my usage cap a little above 21 GB a day, so why em I getting 2 lousy GB a day for 18 KD a month??? thats 216 KD a year…

Whatever we as customers going to say or do will not make any effects. This is because when few months ago ISPs ganged up and made the prices artificially FIXED, nobody came to say anything, even though it is against consumer protection laws.

Don’t think a minute you can make the ISPs to change anything as I was in Qualitynet canceling my subscription the other day and saw many others doing the same and fighting with Qnet staff who did not care.

Only government officials can do and force ISPs to practice fair policies and I do not see anyone of them jumping for us “customers”.

Whatever happened with competing and so doing better i.e. service, prices, etc. because of it? Is Kuwait protecting consumers or big companies?
