First of all I want to say that I’m not against all weight lost surgeries if they are used as a last resort and under professional supervision but don’t you think that such surgeries are becoming a trend or should I say “Habba” in Kuwait lately?
Every now and then we get surprised by how some local celebrities (See picture above) or even friends/relatives are sporting a completely new-look by undergoing such surgeries, though some studies say that there are chances of serious complications, but seemingly many prefer the easy (costly & sometimes risky) way over the natural (needs patience & strong will) way to lose weight nowadays.

It is a very bad route. I have some members of my family who have done surgeries for things which they could work hard and achieved because end of the day even after surgery you do not feel that inner satisfaction of self accomplishment but I guess too much oil makes many take the easier route
I agree with inner-satisfaction point
What do u expect!
They are advertising the surgery as “magic treatment” and even your fellow bloggers (for e.g. Ansam518, danderma) advertised it to the public as the “revolutionary treatment for diabetes”!!
People here are crazy, they refuse to hear the “complication” part of it, they eat more so they reach the accepted weight for surgery, and they offer bribes to the doctors when they dont fit the weight criteria. Some never even attempted dieting.
On the other hand you have surgeons blinded by the money and doing the surgeries for people weighing 80kilos!
Im sorry 7addi meshta6a but im talking out of experience, its getting out of hand and give it 5-10 more years we’ll be flooded with complications that we still dont know how to treat!
Agree with your points but its insane how some are gaining weight ot have such surgeries done!!!!
I know some friends who had such surgeries performed and now are suffering complications, sadly awareness isn’t there especially when those quacks never turn in a patient who doesn’t actually need surgery for sake of cash!
Excuse me?
When did I advertise this surgery as the revolutionary treatment for diabetes?
I suggest you go back to the treatment of the diabetes post and read it again. It is a SEPERATE procudere, not the same one. We advertised that, not this. And the reason I wrote about that surgery is because my own father has diabetes and I do want him to have a healthy life and would have had him take the surgery that “cures diabetes” and not make him lose weight if it was up to me.
Please read well and know what you are reading about before commenting.
Dear danderma,
the procedure that Michelle garnier does to “treat diabetes” is sleeve gastrectomy. Wow, You posted about it but didnt know?
I dont need to read the post again, I know when Dr. Garnier came to Kuwait, why he came to kuwait and I know what kind of a surgeon he is: a bariatric surgeon, also known as Father of sleeve.
I dont blame you for wanting a cure for diabetes, who doesnt? However, again, this is a sleeve, and it was noticed that some are “cured” of diabetes.
So before being defensive and hostile, how about you check your info first?
Elyoom el9ob7 when I saw Haya Sh3aibi’s weight loss I realized inah chinna kil min hab eb hal 3amaliya. I would be a liar if I don’t say I thought about it this morning eb9ara7a. I mean look how much weight they lose! A procedure and voila 20 kilos off and going!
il meshkela b3d ma ysawoon hal 3amaleyat t9eer hawas o kel ma baghaw yeth3efoon sawaw 3amaleya, ya3ny mathalan 3endech The Biggest Loser shoofy shkther ga3deen yth3efoon bs with exercise & diet.
I was discussing about the same with my friends today, i think its ok to get surgery if you are way too fat and cannot achieve results with normal diet but what I see these days that like you said they take the easy way
Here’s my advice: GO TO THE GYM!
Precisely! Thanks you Bu Jwais.
Prevention is better than cure. start ‘emme young. Educate, educate.
