Take a look at picture above, do you notice any oddity? Still don’t get it? Well here’s the short story, I was having dinner with friends at The Village in Abu Hassaniya and we choose to sit in the No Smoking section and before we even started enjoying our food I saw folks sitting right next to us heavily smoking not caring in the world with ashtrays provided to them.
I saw the same in StarBucks Cafe at the Avenues and many other cafe’s and restaurants and I just don’t get it, why ban smoking in first place then encourage smoking by providing smokers ashtrays? It just doesn’t make any sense.

انا ما عندي مشكلة مع المدخنين ابدا,,عادي خل يدخن ويسحك بعد بس استغربت ان المطعم كان حاط علامات ممنوع التدخين بكل وضوح ولمن بلشوا يدخنون (وانا توني حتى ما كليت) يت الويتر وحطتلهم طفايات
غلط من المطعم ،لاتروحله مره ثانيه مطعم غير محترم
Many things don’t make any sense these days.
Seemingly this is the only thing that makes sense these days.
I think it’s because a huge portion of people in Kuwait smoke. So completely banning smoking would damage revenue. The whole concept is stupid. Where you ban smoking then offer ashtrays. You either ban it or you don’t.
Precisely, when the guys lit thecigarettes I thought the waiter came to ask them to leave or move to smoking section but she only came to offer them ashtrays, such a disgrace!
Last Friday I was having breakfast with a friend in a non smoking area. The table next to us ( 4 ladies) asked us if we need our ash tray and naively we thought they want to put trash in it and handed it to them. In my surprise one of them started to smoke, I asked the waiter to remind them it’s a non smoking area and the lady didn’t care. So I had to spell it out myself to stop her.

This problem is not limited to Kuwait, it is all over the middle east.
Why not ban importing cigarettes?
Like in Dubai, every place you go is non-smoking even in the hotel rooms while cigarettes are sold almost everywhere!
This is just stupid in my humble opinion, brothers and sisters we are sadly living in a world built around MONEY! and nothing but MONEY! may allah help our children!
If drinking can be declared haraam then why not smoking ?! If anything- smoking is twice as harmful as drinking is, if not more.
I respect Dubai authorities, they are very strict and rigid when it comes to rules enforcement, I never saw a guy smoking inside a mall or a restaurant.

Next time someone smokes next to anyone I say grow some balls and speak up to f###### go out and smoke you shi# head (This strategy of misbehaving and abusing works best in Kuwait my friends
Maybe they put no smoking plate to attract those who don’t smoke or to meet the rules if there are any at the same time if someone smokes they will not stop him for making profit from his order. such resturants at leat let them install exhaust fans to force the smoke out.
