This afternoon I was at Marina Mall and decided to pay one last visit to Virgin Megastore, I never wanted to believe that its shutting down at the end of this month but its true.
I looked at the salesman and said “I’m sure you already know my question so can you tell me why?”, he pointed out he’s not exactly sure about the real reason behind closing it down but most probably due to strict censorship issues and slow-business.
While I was in Dubai, I saw they had over 10 branches for Virgin Megastore with no issues whatever, and the only one in Kuwait is closing down. Anyhow, I was told that the management may open a branch at the Avenues Mall.
As for the existing location, they said they will open a franchise sportswear, I brought you some pictures to remember Virgin Megastore by.

The best? I agree its one of the best outside Kuwait but Kuwait Virgin Megastore was not that special.

Hey Ali how is or should I say was your trip? wow I think the one in MOE is the biggest in Middle East, they have over 10 Virgin MS in Dubai so I’ve heard.

The goverment part from this failed because they let anyone sell fake CD in kuwait!
Piracy in Kuwait is a never ending issue, though I can hardly complain because original movies also cost alot in Kuwait.

Regarding the slow business, I guess the sky-high prices were the reason. Most music shops offer sales for old CDs, yet it never applies in Kuwait. They overcharge for books and DVDs. No wonder business is slow. Kuwaiti costumers are frequent travelers and are aware of the price difference.
