Do you think we have strict censorship in Kuwait bearing in mind that we have achieved a good rank in press freedom? I came across this BBC report stating that Kuwait has one of the strictest censorship policies in the region especially with regards to western music records, the report also reveals the reason behind shutting down Virgin Megastore where they say that half of the music records were blocked by censors which eventually led to financial losses for the store.

The strange thing here is that music industry in Kuwait is very active, the report also states that many music concerts are either cancelled or censored. The same problem also occurs with books and publishers.

hehe Wahab I guess I have to fully agree with your point above, most will never go to a store and pay to get a new album but to use filestube or torrent

kuwaitmusic.com has changed the game though… As an american living in kuwait,I have met so many people and musicians as a result. so although there is a dark side to it, i believe the folks at Kuwait Music need to be lauded for tacking this head on and making a difference.

    Nice blog by the way!

I would love an official way that people can complain about this. How are we in a democracy if one guy decides whats right and wrong based on his own values and his interpretation of islam? Censorship like this is, imo, uncivilized.
